Cloning from Fan Leaves

Nothing yet, but how long have you had an E-Z clone? What was easiest before that? Everything gets more and more advanced, we just need people to think up the new ideas, and that wont happen if we all tell them they're idiots.
Never called the guy an idiot. Gave the guy "REP" for another post.

A better option has yet to present itself. Whats easier and quicker than a E-Z clone machine?
What kind of resistance do you think the inventor of the e-z clone had to deal with? It was not always the best way and there is probably some botany professor at Cornell who has a method that can smoke the e-z clone. Darlin, it is not about right, wrong, good or bad methods. It is not about, my way is better. It is about accepting that there are other ways that can be used and learning these methods and then figuring out what works best for YOU.

i totally agree that we should never shoot down new ideas....
it was just this post that bothered some i think because the info given wasnt backed up and it was layed down in a way that just made people say wtf..
now wtf is a good thing to feel if it was groundbraking info, this thread just lacks proper proof or even a concept that would make this whole cloning process quicker of more efficent.
i give props to the man for starting this thread and i hope he comes back with some pics but when something about a person bragging about education levels and then calling people idiots just didnt sit good with me,although some have given this poor guy some hell so with this said i think i will unsubscribe this one lol. i dont see it going anywhere else..

LOL all this jibba jabba about a diff. way of cloning, if some one decided to use first and didn't work, wouldn't set them back very far with whatever they were trying to do. This is causing no harm to anyones growing ventures lol. Like I said I have also heard of people making it work. As for how long it takes, idk. And dont we all feel like Master Botanists? :weed:

Phsychology huh? Insightfull comment...Do you
talk to all of your patients like that.

Things in america would prob be better if all doctors talked to their patients like that.

Or the patients talk to the doctors like that would not be a bad idea either.

Holy shit thats not the fucking point... The whole point of this thread was to apparently show that you can clone from a fan leaf and he does this to stress the mother plant less.

You are absolutly correct any E-Z cloner type system is fast as hell and works fine. But what is wrong with someone wanting to clone from a fan leaf if they feel it stresses the parent plan less? Nothing... Just because you don't want to adopt a new method doesn't mean others don't. You're thick. Real thick. :peace:

How do you ever hope to improve your gardening, or anything else for that matter ?

Without a willingness to learn !

This note is intended for whom it may apply to.

Let compare EZ-CLONE pics . one problem I don't know how to post pics here.

PLEASE DON'T NAIL ME TO THE CROSS FOR MY IGNORANCE

it is actually easier then you think to post some pics as long as you have pics on your computer. when you want to add a pic just go down to additional options while in advanced reply area and go to the second bubble attach files. and click on manage files, from here you can add files just like when you attatch files to an email. and viola you should have some pics in your reply.
Hope that helps you man.

I'm new to the site, but an old hand at growing -hydro and soil and I would just be interested to know if anybody other than me clones from fan leaves?
From what I can see everyone has theories on how old the plant should be, how many nodes up the plant etc etc. As a degree holder in botany I would just like to say forget all the hype use fan leaves and get great stocky clones with roots after 1 week!!!
When I get a camera sorted I will post pictures.
How do you take your clones? Do you just pick off a leaf coat it in some rootech or whatever cloning solution you have and wait? or do you grow it in water? What's your technique?

I know you can certainly get clones of other plants just from their leaves. you can just drop a leaf on the soil and it'll grow into a new plant, but I've never seen it with cannabis. It would be nice if it were true.

cool there they are. I was on some other site like this one, but you had to upload your pics to the web before you could post on their site, that sucks.

  1. heated propagator
  2. growing medium( I use potting compost for this technique)
  3. A healthy fan leaf from as lower branch as possible(5 fingered and cut as close to the central blade as possible)
  4. rooting gel
  5. scalpel
  6. patience
Cut the selected fan leaf from a healthy plant with as short a petiole(stem) as possible; just long enough to remain in contact with the growing medium. With your scalpel very carefully cut half way through the veins of the seperate blades on the underside of the leaf(you can dip your scalpel in rooting gel beforehand if you wish) and rub rooting gel into the wounds. Place the leaf ( stem in medium) flat on the growing medium and devise a way of making sure the leaf veins remain in contact with the medium without blocking the shoots from emerging from the 'cut sites'.Keep in heated propagor at 70f and mist daily. I use Cfls on 20/4 as I have found they are happier with a rest(arent we all!) This method creates five shoots from each leaf which in purists terms are actually five seperate plants; but can be trained as one. If you grow hydro then make sure you fill the end of one leg of a pair of womens tights with the compost(to make a large jiffy pellet almost) which can be transfered into expanded clay at a later date then the compost eventually washes away with the flushing cycles( I use Flood and drain). The rooting will take up to 2 weeks, so you need patience.
