Cloning for a mother question (Pics)

Hey guys Been growing a lot from seed to find that perfect strain for me.

I have found a strain i love (Dinefem: Critical +) for the record.

now i am flowering 7 critical from seed. almost done, at day 49. well some look more done than others. having said that I cloned each plant before flowering and also have all seven (carbon copies\clones) vegging right now.

what do i look for in a mother plant and a clone. the overall production and quality and growing habbits after flower is done. or the clone that took the best and is doing the best in vegetation?

bc Clearly i have a decision to make bc clone #6 to be exact is not flowering as good as some others, maybe the location of the plant under the lighting it isnt in prime position. but the clone for (plant 6) is vegging so well. actually lsting better and looks as if i can train that one the best for what suits my growing environment.

than.. I have plant 4 in flowering that looks amazing looks like a quick finisher nice long dense buds, love how it turned out. but the clone for plant 4 is behind the others and isnt vegging as well as i wanted it to.

so what the heck do i do?

any cloning experts out there wanna chime in on what they would do?

keep in mind i grow in coco, and i cloned in coco.

thanks for the ears guys!

middle back is best vegging - back right is best during flower very slow vegging growth

Plant #6 - beautiful lsting. 4 tops. solid branching coming straight up all through out the middle of the plant. potential for lots and lots of tops with good spacing.

plant #4 - very little branching here, pretty much all shade leaves. hardly have any nodes. just not vegging at all must not of took well to lsting and topping, idk. but this plant in flowering looks sooo well! ill update pics of it in flower when the lights go back on.

You want to select for the smoke you like the best followed by yield, height, vigor. It is often the case that the best smoke is not the highest yielder, so you have to make a judgement call based on your findings. Usually I will pick some unfinished product and dry it out to test; this is to speed up the selection process as, in general, if it is good picked early, it will be excellent when fully finished. That allows you to get rid of the unwanted plants as soon as possible.

EDIT: Start cloning in 1.5" unwrapped rockwool cubes (or the macro plugs) for best results with the least headache. Grodan has a nice tutorial but skip the part about putting a layer of water in the bottom of the tray. Also skip the magical cloning goop; a mild nutrient solution works fine. Transplant when a dozen or so roots are showing.

I am not sure I get the question, nor am I a guru. Take some clones off of whatever plant(s) you like best. I am confused about you talking flower while they are in veg.

I'd grow/veg them out longer. As i said, take some clones of your fav. Whichever clone thrives becomes the mama.

I only have one real tent so Intake that clone and put her ina small cab under CFLs and veg and train the shit out of her while the main tent is flowrring. As time gets close to harvest, I take clones off the mother and get them going in the cab with their mommy. When harvest is done, I put them into the tent to veg and decide what to do with the mother.

last time i decided to do an almost 12-12 straight up for the clones and put the mom in with them. I wouldn't want to keep the mom through another cycle (hard to do in the can). So if I wanted to keep growing that strain, i would just go through the same cycle again.

Hope it make sense.

Choice for a good mother:
first find a high you like and clone that plant...
Try to pick a type that finishes quickly... 7-8 weeks in Flower Max would be great...
Pick a mom that is very bushy, and you'll want to find a potential mom, that you can keep short...
I kept a mom for the first few rounds... now, I just clone my clones [I clone the faster growers]...
Good Luck !

when you know you like the smoke. yield quality, that's the plant you want to keep around . in the veg state you could have the very best looking fast growing plant. and it flowers and the quality and yield is total shit. if your moms are from seed chances are the clone cut from the mom will be high class almost as good as the seed plant. with a 20 % reduced yield . hope this helps
