Cloning Blanket? Is it necessary.

I am about to begin cloning- I am pretty confident about the whole thing- but I want to make sure i have the necissary tools to get the job done right...

As for right now I am just planning on using an old aquarium with growing lights and lid.

I have a set of pre-moistened rapid rooters. (picture attached).

But the questions are:

Do I need a seedling mat? Such as the one picture in link
High Tech Garden Supply

Do I need a Humidity dome (see link for picture) rather than the aquarium with lid?

Or should i just up and get one of these:
High Tech Garden Supply

If anyone has experience with any of these product- or the lack there of, please post with your advise, comments, etc...

Thanks All

You don't have to have a heated mat for them to grow strong and healthy but it definitely helps alot! You definitely need the dome lid tho because it helps keep the moisture in for your clones. Your best bet is to get that all in one heated dome box that you showed on the second link. It looks pretty awesome I'm sure your babies will love it. Good luck with your grow :)

pot is so easy to clone you really only need cloning powder or gel and some dirt. I spent 150 bucks on a clone machine and barley ever use it i just dip, stick in the dirt, spray it with diluted nutes once or twice and bam brand new plant. just like everything else with weed is concerned its really not as hard or complicated as people say it is

Coming from you, thats all the endorsement I need, thanks. I am in the same boat as OB Cron and will be cloaning for the first time in a couple more weeks.

Thanks for a good topic OB Cron, props to you and good luck.

thanks, thas flattering...

but to be honest with you....all it really is, is a humidity dome and a propagation tray along with a seedling/cutting heating mat! the 'plus' edition comes with 72 coco starters...

but moral of the story is? you can make your own hot house for under 10 bucks. the only reason i order my hot house plus was because i wanted to use those cocostarters and i wanted a heating mat....so i just chalked it up to getting free shit with the coco starters...lol

i like coco starters as well

Thats a nice little hot hut, but it might be a little low for clones. Only six inches tall. And does it have some sort of fan in it for circulation? But would work great for seeds. I have a bathroom that i use for clonning and vegging. The humidity stay at about 50%.

i would buy an upgrade to make it taller if i did, thats already figured, its 24 for the original, and 36 with a taller dome, so the 36 dollar model would do,

and with all the endorsements i will likely be buying one tomorrow, if i do, i will snap pics and keep a report of its value here and in my journal...

They seem like the way to go, i dont need a DIY version, i have the money- and i like the professional appearance and implied guarentee that it will work... with this product a little investment will go a long way.

Thanks for all the help! and any other advise or knowledge- keep it coming!

Rocky Top High, glad were in the same boat, do you have a journal- we should follow eachothers...

I am considering making a new one for my clones... but i doubt i will- prly just leave it with the same journal- until my second journal where i plan to buy seeds.
