Cloning and Mother Plants

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, First off thank you for taking the time for helping me.

My Situation and Question is: I have a bunch of high quality seeds that I just planted and I plan to make a few of Mother's from the genetics. My question is: Is it better to make a Mother plant out of the plant that came from the original seed? Or can I grow the original seed out for a month or two, clone it, flower the plant that came from the seed and make a mother plant out of the cutting/clone I took from the plant that originated from the seed? Does either way I do it matter?

In other words: Should I turn the clone into the Mother Plant or should I turn the seed into the mother plant? Is one way better than the other?

Clone it. Flower your seed and if it’s worth keeping, you have the clone for the mother. If it’s sub par, chuck it and start another seed to hunt for a GOOD mother. No sense keeping a sub par plant as a mother..

Edit: You have the option of revegging the flowered plant also.
