Cloning a BUD

So my friend made the greatest discovery since sliced bread. Cloning a bud. so this is how he did it. when his crop was done growing, he simply sliced a bud(5,6 gram bud) from the stem off(reasonably sized stem) and then did the same you'd do to make a clone. Surprisingly It rooted and started growing. it only grew to be about 3 feet, but because there was already THC in it before it started to grow, it was the BEST bud ive ever smoked.

WOW. *stoner voice* "it like totally was better weed because it already had THC in it." :dunce:

what a waste of a 5-6 gram bud. a cloned branch would have rooted faster and grown the same plant the bud did. the THC that was in the original bud had long since degraded into lesser cannabanoids and had no effect on the final product whatsoever.

i know this is only my second post but the main bud would probobly mold over by the time the cutting roots and then spread. maybe if you rooted it in a glass of water and good ventilation to keep the humidity low.

It is possible to clone a plant that has already begun to bud.

303 did it in his journal. When he did it, the plant was in the early stages of flowering.

Here is a quote from 303's journal.

New growth?! Looks like most the preflowers fell off. Cloning is fun!

ive seen people cut budz and do this. my understanding is that it takes like months to root and is a utter waste of time. however if one is limited and does not want to keep muthers it is an option.

Its true , i swear. next time i go to his place ill get a pic and post it.
I can get pics too since I'm doing this as well. They revert back to veg but the whole plant stays sticky with resin. Kinda odd. Hope it turns out well.

Not in an aerocloner. 7 days. In RR/RW cubes this is true in my experience though. Any buds I tried to clone took 20-30 days.

it is definetly possible to take clones in flower, i do it all the time. but ti think that the resulting weed will be uber-ganja is just silly.

I have taken clones from 2 weeks into 12/12.

So far as I know the deeper in flowering you are the longer it will take to root.

Having the bud on a plant that will have to grow, I would not expect it to hold it's potency in the time to grow the rest of the plant. As somebody else has said, the THC would ave probably degraded.

Personally all I see here is a wasted bud, and wasted time.

Strongest bud ever? I believe you grew some placebo weed :p

Some people on here can really be jackasses.
and some people give out bogus info that others will read and think is gold. this site is here to help others grow better weed, not to perpetuate bullshit urban myths about 'how to grow pounds under your bed' and bullshit like this here.

what the OP is talking about is a waste all around. a waste of the initial 5 gram bud, a waste of his time rooting a cutting well into flowering, and a waste of our time having to deal with this thread.

BTW- welcome to RIU.

K flamer. I agree with you but you still don't need to be a jackass. It's called "Constructive Criticism"

Personally, I would not clone a bud.

I was simply trying to show proof that is possible. Instead of debating back and forth with heresay, I simply posted a link so people can see for themselves.

If a person does not have any plants in veg, and doesnt want to start over from seed, then cloning a bud is an option. Its not my personal favorite option, but it is indeed an option.

Good Luck

Would it be possible to clone an autoflower when it is nearly done flowering?
I cannot say for sure, as I have not tried an autoflowering strain for myslef.

However, I have heard (only heresay) that you cannot clone an autoflowering plant/

If anybody can show a link, or pictures that say otherwise, it would be appreciated.

:peace:
