Clones

I just took 2 clones and I did everything by the book and right away they drooped. I cut them with a razor blade CLEAN! Then I dipped them into clonex and places them in super plugs. What might have I did wrong, I even mist them a little then put them in a dome. Any suggestions?

This is frustrating!!! It cant be that hard to clone right?

Here is the deal with clones.

Right now that are having a hard time getting water, on top of all that they have all that surface area, of the leaves, that are transpiring and losing moisture.

Don't cut the leaves off, just trim the ends to decrease the surface area to lessen moisture loss while the roots develop. If you are doing rock wool, pucks or soil use a humidity dome (Areo not necessary).

Good luck

Well I took them out of the plugs and put them in the water untill I see them come back a little. Then I will repeat the clonex and put them back in the plugs. The one looks like its coming back. The other is limp. EVERYONE GETS REP+ Thanks!!

This is an easy way to do some cuts.First a healthy plant in veg with some good branching, side and top views.
I use an old cutting board,a rusty razor, sharp fine pointed scissors and roottech gel.
You don't need any hormones at all to take cuts successfully but it speeds up the process and the plants are less beat up by the time they root.
How the branch looks removed with nodes attached and stripped off,I just pinch them off be careful not to kink the stem.......kinking is bad.
Stick in gel let sit for 30 seconds or so.
In this case I'm using peat pellets but it'll work in just about anything that will keep the cut from drying out while it's rooting.
Soak the pellets overnight or they'll suck the moisture outta the cuts with bad results.
Poke hole in pellet, stick cut all the way down again careful not to kink the stem.
Form pellet around stem,gently.......then dunk in water to replace what ya squeezed out by forming then put in a dome.I'm using a cake box, they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes plus ya getta cake.......fucking A.
In this case they're about 12"s under a 42 watt cfl, just leave'em alone they don't like being messed with.
Roots take anywhere from 5 to 15 days depending on plant and temp,I will take some pics and explain how I quick harden them off and pot'em when these root.
Now the donor plant provided 6 cuts and has 4 main branches, ready to be up-potted and flowered tomorrow.

i just had success with 3 cuttings, first time out...
mine went really limp like that too, do the same like youve been doing, it should work. now prop those girls up with a stick or something. keep them really humid, and STOP fucking with them. they dont like to be bothered. i put a cfl on them 18/6 & 3-4 days later they started to perk up. keep an eye on them to see how they look, when they look healthy, take the dome off. water & light like any other seedling...

looks like an air bubble in your stem, next time i would do a second cut underwater, i use a glass pie dish.
Rootech is definitely good stuff, sometimes i will add a few drops of super-thrive to my aerocloners water.
if you really want to clone look into DIY AeroCloners i think StinkBud made a tutorial.
good luck

Thanks all for the fast replies!! I just cut them and they went limp almost immediately. The one poped back up after i put it in the water and then put the cloning gel. Now its sitting in its home and looks good now. The one looks pretty bad still. :( I hate to cut any more off taking from my bud sites. THANKS AGAIN ALL!!!!

you did not cut your stem under water bro, that second cut has to be under water or oxygen gets in your stem and causes them to go limp..Follow all the little steps and it will get easier...peace

are you saying that a second cut underwater is unnecessary?
IMHO it improves rooting time and success rate.
i mist mothers BEFORE cutting clones so they are not thirsty when cut.

I know exactly what I did wrong......... The plug I am using I didnt let it soak and stuck it in there with just cloning gel with just a little bit of water in it and it sucked the water out of it... The one is looking 100% better that fast!!!! The one I think might die. But live and learn right? If these turn out I know how to do it. I LOVE YOU ALL really I though I just killed my clones!! Dam noobs trying to grow!! lol

FWIW every clone I have ever taken has looked like shit the first 24hrs.

Although I have read the underwater cutting many places, I ignore that advise and have never had a problem.

I would recommend letting it sit in the water like my man said, then let it sit in the gel. then put it in the plug or whatever, but that worked!!

AFTER THE PLUG HAS SOAKED OVER NIGHT!! lol

every clone i cut drooped a little bit for the first day....until i made an AEROCLONER :D
rockwool is impossible compared to aerocloning. and if you build yourself an aerocloner it should cost.
396 GPH submersible pump 20$
air pump+airstone 10$
22G rubbermaid 8$
neoprene inserts 5$
net pots 5$
misters 5$
5 ft of PVC i had lying around
so like 60$ total for a 20 site aerocloner (and i put 2 clones per 2" neo, so its a 40 site!)
a 30 site EZ Cloner is 270$

here is stinkbud's cloner

very much like mine, but his holes are spaced out more.
