Clones Keep Drooping and Dying

I've taken like five clones just trying to get the hang of things. I'm cutting with extremely sharp sterilized scissors on a 45. Immediately put the girls in ph'd water then dip in cloned gel and straight into the rapid rooter cubes, which are presoaked in ph'd water. Then I place the cubes in a 16 oz cup hempy cups filled with perlite then I place them about 18 inches away from my flouros. Then i check them the next day or so then they are drooped over. What the hell. The only thing I can come up with is my bigger plants are shading all the light but from what I read clones can easily establish their self without direct light. Someone please help get this cloning thing down and soon!!

thats ur problem....either put ur hempy cups in a tray and put dome on the tray, or if ur using small enough cups, u can do individual domes with baggies...

This is an easy way to do some cuts.First a healthy plant in veg with some good branching, side and top views.
I use an old cutting board,a rusty razor, sharp fine pointed scissors and roottech gel.
You don't need any hormones at all to take cuts successfully but it speeds up the process and the plants are less beat up by the time they root.
How the branch looks removed with nodes attached and stripped off,I just pinch them off be careful not to kink the stem.......kinking is bad.
Stick in gel let sit for 30 seconds or so.
In this case I'm using peat pellets but it'll work in just about anything that will keep the cut from drying out while it's rooting.
Soak the pellets overnight or they'll suck the moisture outta the cuts with bad results.
Poke hole in pellet, stick cut all the way down again careful not to kink the stem.
Form pellet around stem,gently.......then dunk in water to replace what ya squeezed out by forming then put in a dome.I'm using a cake box, they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes plus ya getta cake.......fucking A.
In this case they're about 12"s under a 42 watt cfl, just leave'em alone they don't like being messed with.
Roots take anywhere from 5 to 15 days depending on plant and temp,I will take some pics and explain how I quick harden them off and pot'em when these root.
Now the donor plant provided 6 cuts and has 4 main branches, ready to be up-potted and flowered tomorrow.

The dome will help i think. It has helped raise my success rate tremendously i use clear plastic drinking cups over top of smaller cups.

Though i will say i never did have much luck with gels i know alot of people do but i didn't.

Wow that's fast... you sure they are dying and not just wilting some and your thinking their dying cause mine wilt some but they snap out of it but's it's usually around day 4 they wilt some.

Well I guess they are not necessarily dying just wilting like hell. And I noticed the stem that was submerged under the perlite is still stiff but the rest of the plant is like a limp noodle

They are not going to grow roots in two days and some wilting is to be expected maybe your just being impatient. I keep plastic cups over mine, spray every now and then when i remember and to let in fresh air.But it's usually ten to fifteen days before i see roots granted i am no pro at cloning but my way works over 90% of the time for me.By week 3 im seeing new growth.

im suggesting you read a guide on cloning follow it and be patient. Keep dome on em mist them here and there.A plant that you have been feeding heavy in veg. stage will be high in nitrogen i always slack off feeding a plant when i know im goin be cutting on it and water it well for a few days ahead, to make sure their's plenty moisture in my cutting. I don't mean drown your plant use common sense it'll come to you my first few attempts i didn't think i would ever get it...lol.

You need a humidity dome plain and simple. Dont make this too complicated :)

Or use cups 1 dark one for the plant to sit in and one clear one as your individual dome

This is your problem. Also, I always give my fresh cuttings 8-12 hours of darkness to let them "recover".

Humidity dome it is. I kinda thought that was my problem. I think its best to be sure though. Thanks RIU members. If anyone has more info on how to improve your cloning success rate please share your knowledge.
