Clones in plain water?

Has anyone tried to clone in just a cup of plain(PH balanced) water? Has anyone left them in water for several days and them put them in a cloning medium and had noticeably different results?

it doesnt work as well with weed like every other herb. it might survive but you'd stress the fuck out of it.

yes i have i even stuck clones in a glass on window seal and they rooted in the glass

If the clone has all the water it needs then why would it bother growing roots in a hurry, plants are lazy too. It will not work as quickly or have the same success rate as other methods. If you grow in soil then get a bottle of this stuff and give it a try for under $2 buck. Make sure it's Number 1 for soft woods, #2 and #3 will not work, they are for hard woods, I already made this mistake, so you don't have too.

I started off doing my clones in pure water in bottles. I had about a 70% success rate. Most would stress and many grew algea. I splurged and spent 12.00 for some root gel and use rockwool. I have about a 90% success rate.

You will have to change the water out daily in order to keep it clean and aerated , not all strains will root in water though .. Just an FYI ..
I just put some fresh cuts in water this morning , I ll leave them in the cups for a day to avoid shock , then tomm they will go into the clone machine and no dome will be used , due to the 24 hr soak in water ..

I have rooted many cuts in cups of water , but its slow and not always as successful as other methods .. Add a air stone to the water and things will speed right along and the odds are increased dramatically ...

I have a friend that I was explaining how difficult it can be to clone. So he took a cutting, put it in a glass of water & placed it on his window sill. The thing rooted in about 10 days, made me look like an idiot. :dunce: It grew to be a big healthy plant. Still, I wouldn't suggest this method. :peace:

I have done it for years and it works better than aerocloners. The glass must be dark - totally - for root development. And it doesn't "shock" them. Jesus, this is a plant we are taling about. But they are smarter than some posting here. Change the water at least every other day, shake it to aerate it beforehand if you wish. Does not have to be pH balanced and the chloramine in your tap water keeps shit from growing that you don't want. It takes up to 3 weeks.

Look at what you wrote and then what you said. You must grow some asskicking shit you're toking on. It works, it works perfectly and easily but you don't recommend it. Good god.

It's a frigging plant people!!!!!! It is not a special plant or a delicate plant. It is not a "weed". It is a member of the grass family and is more closely akin to bamboo. It only runs into problems when idiots plant its seeds. Or tries cloning it I guess.

so your routine for cloning is; cut branch, soak branch for 24hrs, add branch to uncovered cloning machine? Do you use any acids or vitamin b supplements in your cloner? Is your cloner a easy cloner of some variety, or did you build your own using air stones? if so please elaborate :) thanks for the post!

I do the same thing as professorpotsnob, except they go to peat pucks for me in a dome. My last set never drooped and in 8 days they were slinging roots out of the puck.

All members of the grass (poaceae) family are monocots (one cotyledon) and have parallel venation.

Marijuana is a dicot i.e. it has two cotyledons, and has palmate venation. It's in the family Cannabaceae

Yes it is that straight forward , and I add nothing to my cloning machines except well water with a pH at 7.4 and PPM 180 .. I make sure that my cuts are healthy and I skip on adding products to the cloner as they have made no differences that I have noticed to warrant there use .. I use the Turbo Kloner and as well I have a few other prefabricated machines and one home made do it yourself version .. I do like to add an air stone for cooling with the others but not the Turbo Kloner due to it already having a fan incorporated into its design .. PotSnob

Some ones having a special time of the month

Just joking but I agree with you exept for one part it is a weed go russia ditchweed ,over the pond in america their trying to eradicate hemp and I remember seeing a video by jorge clevants I think about I plant that was thrown out in a desert and when he stumbled upon it it had buds and some strong stem. Iwill post a link later.

I've done it with tap water that I changed daily.
It works.
How 'bout for multiple clones such as 10-30 clones at a time? What kind of water container/glass could
be used so the clones won't free float around in the water container?

I do not know. I did it as an experiment and ended up tossing the clones.
I buy clones at the store with my credit card and get miles, suck it Feds.
