CLONES have some kind of BUG.

I took 10 clones almost 3 weeks ago. 4 have rooted and are growing well while some are taking a bit longer. I got a little impatient and picked the worst looking clone that hasn't changed since day 2 and pulled it out of the peat pellet.

I see what looks like a small tap root forming, I tried to brush a little peat off and seen that it was no tap root, it was actually a small clear/white maggot looking insect that had began hollowing out the cut and dried it out completely.

I hope its the only one that had this thing, the others seem ok but only time will tell. My question is, does anyone know what this thing was/where it came from and has anyone experienced this with clones? I tried researching and couldn't find anything.

I threw that cup, cut and soil away so I don't have a pic, I hope it left with it though. If it happens again I will take pics for sure.

I have had a slight gnat problem after watering the momma with molasses and haven't gotten rid of the problem 100% yet so you're probably close with your guess. Could these gnats at larvae stage make big problems for mid size plants?

gnats will destroy a crop if left untreated,
there are several different treatments, look in RIU, "bugs"
u can google gnats to
I've had them, used sprays + sand on top of soil

Yea i've been spraying the gnats with soapy water when I see them and I also have pest strips hanging, it helps but I see them every now and then. I know the sand works but I looked for some at walmart and could only find crayola colored sand... where did you get your sand from?
