Clones from feminized seed mother?

:? Good day all! A perpetual lurker here on RIU and soil grower for... well, lets just say a long time. I am setting up a small perpetual grow for a medical patient, and the question was posed to me "Is it possible to use a feminized seed mother for cloning?" While I have cloned many a plant in my day, I have never grown from feminized seed. And while I understand the tendency toward hermaphroditism under less than perfect conditions, would not the offspring of a true female, regardless of progeny, remain female? Or would the mere act of attempting a clone from a feminized mother be sufficient stress to cause expression of its sexual duality (hermaphroditism)? Any assistance would be most appreciated... While I have offered stock I know to be of strong lineage, this patient was gifted a few feminized seeds for their condition and as such wanted their very own stock (nothing new there!). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would do anything to assist in the alleviation of their burden. Thanks all in advance! EKIMRI:?

I have cloned a feminized seed mother and have never had one instance of Hermies. I am not saying that it's not possible but from my experience, they are easy to clone and grow as good and strong as the mother.

Thanx RTH... I'm thinking that only a certain percentage are "reversed males" or "hermies" anyway, so as such, if I just choose the female with the greatest vigor, I should stand a decent chance that it was a true female, and thus, less susceptible to the expession its hermie qualities. It's just nice to hear that others have done so successfully.

While it doesn't make sense to me, I thought I had read the same thing, but cannot find anything to back it up... Hence the inquiry. (makes me feel like a newbie all over again)

i thought you cant clone feminized seeds
I can say, without a doubt, female seeds can be cloned. The first clone I ever attempted was female seeds. Since then, I have taken 12 clones off the same seed. Not once have I had a issue with hermies. They were a bitch to germ but once I coaxed her out of her shell she turned into a true beauty. Good luck and if you buy female seeds, clones those babies forever.

Thanks for the responses folks, I've got several in veg now, which I plan to clone and flower to find the best pheno and best yield. I'm glad others have had such success, makes me feel a little more comfortable... Guess "old school" still doesn't trust this "new school" feminized thing ! :peace:
