Clone Question

Hello,

I am receiving clones tonight and i am unsure of what exactly i need to do for my plants to root correctly. i am getting the clones in cubes and i am guessing i just put the cube on my rocks (hydrocorn). it almost sounds to good to be true so please correct me if im wrong. I have a bottle of rapid roots and root accelerator that the hydro store gave me, how much do i use? I am using 5 gallon buckets with 8 inch net pots and a top drip system. thanks for your help

If you're using H&G Roots Excel use it @ 1ml/gal. When you say "cube" I'm presuming you mean
a rockwool cube, like a Grodan Delta 8/10. Yes, put a layer of clay rocks on the bottom of the net pot, then set the cube on top
and fill the rest of the pot in with rocks. With your drip system, just be careful about soaking the cube
too much, as it will reduce and slow root growth. I'd suggest a drip schedule of ~2mins twice a day.

so basically the cube just disintegrates? I was under the impression that water had to be constantly flowing through the rocks. they get really dry really fast and i mean the roots are sitting in water its whole life. i don't have a way of controlling my system with that much accuracy, having the drip on 2 minutes twice a day. my timers only turn on and off every 30 minutes, and that means that my airstones would also turn off for 30 minutes. how could i make that possible to only have it drip twice a day for 2 min?

No. The cube does not disintegrate. It is not supposed to. The cube is made out of
a material not much unlike housing insulation. It will hold water extremely well, and as such
you don't want to over-soak it or the roots wont have any oxygen pores (IN THE CUBE, NOT IN THE ROCKS)
left to breath and it will likely wilt.

Easiest way to make a drip, is a Dual Digital Timer - It have 2 outlets and can be programmed for up to 8
different timer settings each day. They usually run ~$12-17 depending on where you get em. I personally
have 4+ because they are so useful.

My air pump is always on. i just came back into town and my ladies are a little yellow in the middle of the plant, but the leaves are greenIMG_0066.jpgIMG_0067.jpg. Is this anything to be worried about?

also, i noticed that the root excel that i used just floated down to the bottom of the bucket. i can see a brown residue on the base of all 4 buckets. am i supposed to drop that stuff directly onto the cube?

all of my buckets range from 500-600ppm, i just transplanted them on thursday. are you sure i should up the dose of nutes? what ppm do you suggest? thanks for your help
