clone problems

I had some clones soaking in a tray under a dome for a couple of weeks. the other day I planted them in solo cups and within an hour they were all wilted and the leaves were drying up. I put them under a 2' 8 bulb florescent and tarped them with 2mil sheet plastic to try and create a humid environment. It looks like all but one are bouncing back but it's still questionable whether they will make it or not. I realized that I should have sprayed them with anti-wilt, but what else should I have done?

cuttings don't need a lot of light. back them up to 2ft from the bulbs. also I'm guessing you planted them in soil? only new growers do that. pros put cuttings into an aerocloner. they're ez to make if you don't want to buy one.

That's a pretty blanket statement...
So when do I get to graduate from New grower, for I still love growing and cloning in soil....
Cloned about 40-50 plants last year... all into soil... will clone about 40-50 in 2014... all in soil...

Solo cups are fine, now, Next time....if you need a small humidity dome try a clear plastic party cup inverted over your solo cup...

You need to slowly get them used to the less humid environment. I clone into soil, will be transferring five of five from their solo cups tomorrow. I put a baggie over the cup with a small slit and mist into it. then after a week I make the slit larger. Then I remove it a couple of hours a day. By two weeks, which is tmrw in this case, they can handle the normal environment.

I've never seen someone actually use anti wilt. Is it that great or has it become something that you've religiously applied and now you feel like its a must? I'm running some clones ATM. Just dropped 12 on the 22nd, 2 of them are struggling which of course are my Vortex I'm desperate to keep running. I've laid off on watering and its been helping. Think I've been lovin them to death.

Anyway I'd love to see some pics. Cloning is my personal favourite part of growing and I'm always looking for new ideas!

I always germ right to soil,less of a hassle and way easier.
I really never had a problem other then forgetting to clean my scissors before cutting them and they wilted.
Other then that,no problems.
Since we're on the subject of cloning,I was wondering if I can take some clones from one that's been in flower for ten days now.
She's really bushy and I would like to trim some of the lower branches so since I'm trimming her I might as well take some clones.

I clone into soil myself but I wouldn't recommend it directly into soil (I know some would), I use rapid rooters set about half way into the soil after filling a solo cup about 2/3 full of soil and getting just moist. Use some rooting hormone and make sure the rapid rooters are not sopping wet. Put them under a dome with a heating mat under them and you should have near 100% success after 7-14 days. Mist the inside of the dome once a day for about 5 days and air out for 10 minutes a day for the first 5 days etc... gradually give them more air/lower humidity. Good Luck

I recently took several clones from plants 14 days into flower, I didn't have any trouble. They seemed to root nearly as fast as clones from a vegging plant. I am about 4 weeks into flower now and I know that I would have a much harder time getting clones to root form cuttings at this point. You should be fine.

I tried that and the cuttings started budding anyway but mb you'll have different results.

Big bud, I'm sure there is a few bottoms you could cut off that hasn't even begun to flower. Those would be easier ones and less stressful. Spek, I always see you helping out the newb forums, how far into flowering can you snip before its too late to take some clones?

How loud are these aerocloners?
The idea is great, it's the noise of a pump I'm thinking might sound like a back yard fish pond in my basement that concerns me.
