clone/cuttings questions....

i looked through the grow FAQ, and still couldnt get my question answered....so my question is i want to eventually grow some clones in soil but the mother is grown hydroponically, what process would i have to take to achieve this, would i still have to place the cuttings in rock wool cubes inside a dome, and then some how transplant them into soil?...or whats the actual process?....TIA

if you want to cloan plants...
first always use at least 2 nodes for cloans those are braches that come off of the main shaft of the cutting. also cut at an angle a 45* would suffice. then dip the cloan in rooting hormone. then if you have rockwool use it but be sure to ph it first because the cloan is very fragile and could die easily. treat the cloan as you wouls a new seedling. a descent ammount of light and a plastic dome would be good too. after you see roots starting to project from the rock wool you can put it into any medium you want (like soil). just expect some slowed growth when you transplant because this is going to shock the plant. after a week or so in the new medium normal growth should resume.

i forgot to tell you!!! when you dip the cloan into the rooting hormone DONT LET AIR BUBBLES GET INTO THE XYLEM (TUBE IN THE STEM)!!! if this happens it will block water uptake and kill the cloan. moral of story: dip and plant as soon as you cut.

use jiffy pods.....so when the cutting's root all you do is put them in soil and water

i have used both jiffy pods and rockwool personally so i can vouch for them both! i guess if you are going soil, it would be better to start them in this type of medium... good call cheech

jiffy pods are good for soil transplants? would you suggest this over a clone into nutrient void soil? and do they sell these jiffy things in stores or do you have to buy them online? and yeah the GrowFAQ sucks on this site, we need to update that thing

i would go with jiff tubes

jiffy pots are just organic planters you put soil in but the roots can grow thru them so you don't really have to transplant just put the whole thing in a bigger pot. kinda like rockwool: you put the little 1/4 sized ones into the bigger ones. same principal just with soil is all.

so what medium would you guys suggest to put into these jiffy pot things? i hear nitrogen slows root growth in clones so what should i use?
