Clone catastrophe

Oh wow they do not look happy! Would be surprised if they make it.

They might pull through. How many days so far?

Are you misting them?

I have not been misting them. Figured 90 percent humidity was sufficient.

I cut them on Thursday mid day. Put directly into clonex solution and entirely soaked cubes.

If you can take more it would be great but hold onto them for a few days before chucking them

Some strain react funny like that ,they will probably be fine

Yea I’ll be cutting/topping more anyway. I’m just using these to determine sex.

Made the thread to just see if people thought they’d pull through. We’ll see! I’ll let them try to live for about a week.

If it's not a big deal I'd just cut new ones. Once they lose turgidity, it's hard for them to come back without roots. I'd also cut off those huge lower fan leaves next time.

I agree mostly. I don't clone much anymore but when I did I saved some cuts that looked pretty bad.

Mist them with plain water. Straight tap is fine. In fact the chlorine in the water will actually help with sterilizing and preventing rot.

Hi Mobone,
I've been using a method called the two cut method for several decades now. Initially, make the cutting and stick it in a container of water.
Prevention of wilting depends on steps done at this time.
Once you have your rockwool or jiffy cube ready...pull a cutting, cut off the bottom at an angle, make a few thin slices along the stem (for root chemical absorption)
Roll it in powdered rootone and slip it into hole in medium. Pinch around the stem.
Keep it warm and humid. Should have roots in a week.

PS the ones in picture are about 4 days old. No dome needed.

I actually don't think the cloning product makes much difference. I like the powder because it lasts longer.

Just be super careful to not let clone stem to be exposed to air for too long. Transpiration can cause an air bubble to be sucked into stem. Causes vapor lock like with a gas line.

I do same as jd....also remove the lower big sink leaves...not needed for root growth....should perk up overnite...keep the dome on em keep em moist but not soaked

Cut clone. Put in water. Dip in cloning powder and plant. That’s it. Keep misting the leaves and have wet soil.

Ya those look like they will be just fine. Maybe if those bottom fan leaves could have been completely removed and a little mist They would have some more vigor. They are nice cuts though.

Just leave them now. If your talking about the slit in the stem then dunk in powder , no. If your asking about snipping off those giant suckers on the very bottom. Yes , carefully not to move the stem around and loosen any root starting to form.

I have to ask this question: .We're these taken off of a healthy plant?

I would leave them alone out of direct light. I recently had a plant pop back after transplanting it and it looked like it was going to die.
