Your watering “around roots “ isn’t necessary, you should water more evenly and thoroughly thruout that container- not completely dripping with excess but more thoroughly so plant can access the nutes within medium.

FFOF will carry that plant for weeks all on its own.
Give it water ph matched to medium and let her do her thing. Then you can monitor how long it will take to water again … let plant show you not do it on your water schedule

I transplanted into 2 gallon pots just over 3 weeks ago and continued watering just around the roots. Could I have damaged the roots somehow by doing this, potentially causing this clawing?

That's definitely a possibility. I would water it one good time and then back off for a couple of days at least.

No problem...you've been given some good info in here, combine it with your own research and you'll have it together in no time. With the FF trio, start with 1/4 of recommended dosage of fox farms grow big and tiger bloom. I can't give you any more info on that trio as I stopped using it rather quickly. I used 1/4 strength and built up to 1/2 strength and all three of my plants were reacting very differently.

I agree with overwatered looking, it's actually better to error on the side of underwatering, I've had them look super scary thirsty and droopy, then you water till runoff and 10 minutes later it looks good as new and drank all the runoff it could reach.

I got exactly the same clawing this year with HappyFrog, straight up nitrogen toxicity but they still seem healthy. Think it will wear off, you didn’t overwater or do anything wrong, deep breaths.

I do not recommend anything because everyone and their situation is different.

I use FF happy frog, dry amendments w/ EWC and distilled water. I prefer amending my soil, letting the plants feed as they wish, and watering only when they need it.

I do not want to be tied to the house with plant feeding or watering every day and all the shit associated with that.

Agree with ph too high. Or N tox, l water around plant, not on. I dont water plant, water around it, inreasing in size of circle till l reach outside of pot, then water normally. This causes young plants to work for water. Instead of giving direct. If small plant in big pot this works well.

Could be pH, been using tap water the city says is 8.0 with some lemon juice. Happy Frog should be buffered tho and adjusted to 6.5 or so.

I'm soil even after death here now. I start at stem for around 4 weeks. Then just soak the surface as needed and dictated by plant for another 3 weeks give or take. Once plant is established I water till run off and allow pot to sit in run off for an hour before draining the drip trays. Full saturation. I then do not repeat until pot is light. It is this wet dry cycle that promotes root growth. Also I find fabric pots to be very erratic and promotes root concentrations in the center of the pot. Not good for me or the plants. LOL.

As far as PH I run low for soil mixes. Keeps the N up. Dark green. Higher lowers N uptake. Yellowing. This affects burn. But a smaller factor than PPM when within 6.2-6.6.

A brief offer of my method to ponder for those struggling.
