Clawing and callus

Hi all.

Cloned some big bud for outdoors.

Going ok but now a few have started to claw badly with the tips going quite hard and a round callus forming where they were tipped. Others less affected are still showing slight clawings, others largely unaffected.

Can't find any online images where this callus effect has occurred so not quite sure whats happening.

Possible human errors include:

I had recycled some canna brand potting mix from an indoor grow which had root material in it, could be contaminated. Have repotted the worst effected.

Tipped too early possibly. About four nodes only.

Some of them were overwatered early on but have repotted these.

Have fed sparingly so don't think this is an issue other than residual canna flora nutrients remaining in the reused potting mix.

Have sprayed with foschek, a fungicide.

Also added rhizotonic and cannazyme.

Were under an led, now under an hps at 400w.

My concern is that the worst effected won't physically grow back through this callusing and will grind to a halt.

Thoughts? Thanks

Hi mate the stems are red which shows plant stress you said they was under LED? That could cause stress which causes the stems to red (common with LED). Also with the growth it looks like bad soil? How good is your drainage? Might be worth checking the roots as well as you mentioned the overwatering the growth on the plant looks like an issue with roots as well. Hopefully this helps you out mate. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Were under LED now under HPS. It was suggested it could be mites so have sprayed and repotted anything with serious issues and cut off the worst affected tops to see if they will reshoot with more normal foliage. Will keep you posted!
