+Rep on the striplight idea. I've been trying to figure out for ages how to tackle getting some more light into my pc case. I was on the brink of picking up a bunch of high powered led chips and getting the soldering iron etc out. Then I found this thread... After a quick check on ebay to find out that these strips come in way under a tenner, with the driver included... This is the way I'm gonna go! Currently running 3 x 23w 2500k CFLs for both veg and flower, but seriously hovering over the buy button of the 5050s now, to just tape above them for some added bling! :)

get 5630s instead of 5050s --- they go for ~$15 per 5m now

Thanks for checking it out....yeah they work well for their low profile and the fact they use a PC chassis as a heatsink...i will be 'stripping' my little PC down at the end of this exercise and giving her a rejig....she has been trooping for a little while now with no problems. :)

I would have posted this in the stealth section...but CFL reign supreme over there it seems....

I agree with caretak3r....5630's or 5730's are the progression...so go down this route...dont get the water proof ones....pointless cost and light diffusion. Also dont rely on the 'adhesive' that comes with the strips...get some thermal glue aswell :)

dang - i'm always behind - didn't realize there was something newer than 5630s.... I'm just getting around to trying mine out again, in yet another experiment -- this time I'm really having fun and trying a 12 hour day cycle (3 hours on, 9 hours off, with far-red PFR signalling the change so I can try such a short night cycle). Should be fun.

I'm sure it would help if I fully documented the grow - I'm lame when it comes to that... My bucket did fine but had heat issues (because I used the plastic bucket) so I didn't complete the grow with it. I moved about about 2.5M of lights to the bottom of a foil pie pan (equal parts CW 5630, WW 5630, and Red 5050s , it draws about 50W. Plan to use that as my main light source in a small cab I'm making out of a laundry hamper. I don't have room to throw it in my other cab, and I'm about to add 4 VERO13s in there anyway (to add to my 2 x XPGs and 100W of Merry specials).

i do intend to document that one - I'm sure inquiring minds want to know whether one can pull of a 3/9 cycle. Sorry for thread-jacking Chronikool

long ago in a galaxy far far far far away
This thread has run its course and has become (s)crap for the RIU pile....or scooped up to be 'Chronikooled' (i deserve a punch in the head for that one...line up!)

I dont like the idea of recycling...except in my garden.... :-P

Another disjointed rant bought to you by the crap underneath my toe-nail...

Thanks for your observation(s) Hyroot...... :)
