Chlorine is past tense

I've been reading alot about people putting their tapwater out to "de-chlorinate" for a few days. Maybe in some cases this might still be an option but the vast majority of American cities are now using chloramine, which does NOT evaporate or reduce except over long periods of time. It is an improvement over the taste of chlorine but still contains the same hazards as chlorine ever did. Chloramine is more harmful to marine life and plants than chlorine was. Just thought you might want to know before wasting your time.

That is a very good point fella. Nice one for sharing. *runs off to check what they put on his water*

*edit* - Thankfully my local water company do not use chloramine.

The tap water where I live has ammonia added to turn the the chlorine into chloramine. They specifically state that chloramine is toxic to fish (aquarium) and the tap water should be filtered before using.

That's fucked! It's almost like they want you to have to buy bottled water to drink - when they clearly have the ability to make tap water safe as part of their service. Shameful!
