Chernobyl/OG Kush Main Lining: First Genetics Grow

Had a lot go down this pass week. Got a new 4ft 8-tube fluorescent set up to fill out the veg tent. Built a rapid cloner and my computer crashed, so I've been busy. Anyways, got 8 Chernobyl and 4 OG Kush from Reserva Privada going in FFOF with the trio nutrient pack. Started germinating them on 6-21 with the paper towel method and had 100% success rate with both strains. Now after 6 weeks its time to start training them. Used super cropping on the last two grows with really good result, but I wanted to try this aiming for even better result.

Alright, cut 3 of them back and started to main line them. I'm going for 8 sites with an estimated time line of 8-10 weeks of vegging. The main stems I took and started to clone them in a homemade aero cloner. #3 is still in last but have some nice under growth coming on. At the base, the stem had a weak spot that just fell over. Staking didn't help, so I filled the pot up to the brim and used two stakes to hold it in place. Hopefully it will fix it.

OG Kush
I topped all of them except #1. It's Still Struggling along. All leaves have yellowing with curled edges. It has received the same treatment as the others. Maybe just a bad seed. Then, # 2 was the only one fully stripped for main lining. #3 and #4 were topped but not stripped, so they could get a little more branching going beforereally stressing them out.

Topped #2, #4 and #8 today. All seem healthy and moving right along. No signs of stress from the first 3 that got clipped. #1 and #3 are the only 2 left untouched. #1 has some heavy under growth coming on but is only the same height as all the topped ones. #3 is moving along fine, just needs a little more time than the others but no health issue are visible. #6 has exploded in growth. Definitely will be the first to get its second split. So far, so good.

OG Kush (Res. Pri.)
Stripped and tied #3 and #4. #2 is healthy and drinking a lot of water, even after topping. #1 is looking healthier after getting a nitrogen boost. New leaves are nice dark green, but with a velvet look to them. I like seeing that waxy gloss on my ladies. That's about it, til next time.

Well welcome to the party, you were actually the guy who got me into TGA in the first place. Your reports are well written and thought out. I got some Vortex waiting to in the next go round, but since I started cloning, I don't know how long before that happens. My buddy put me on to you and got some Cheese Quake since I took his first 2 picks. He knew he would get clones so figured might as well get something else. He's running Cheese and Space Bomb right now. Not doing main lining just top and train for scrog. Good having you both watch over me, making sure I don't fuck it up.

Sweet.. I am happy to be along for the ride.

I am dying to run Chernobly but don't even have it in my available pool. Looking forward to your grow. Vortex.. CheeseQuake.. Both excellent.

I may be running my Space Bomb soon... still deciding but it is definitely in the running.

Rock on :-)

Looking good ThaiDye...I'm subbed and I will be lurking in the background. I like your consistency in your photos. I can strongly recommend Vortex...I was solving every problem the world could throw at me after puffing on some...couple hits and I was pretty sure I figured out why the answer is 42.

-and to hovering please document Space Bomb. I am very interested in your growing of it especially since you journaled SpaceJill and SpaceDawg already so you will probably be able to find the TinyBomb pheno.

-Peace.

An error between the keyboard and chair has occurred. Bad judgement struck a few days ago. I sprayed them with neem oil about 10 minutes before the lights came on. #2 got it bad. However, new growth is green and healthy but slow. I also broke the stem on #3, the floppy one. Went to pull the stakes out and pulled the plant at the soft spot. Clipped, stripped and dipped, and right into the cloner. #5. #6, #7 have been clipped a second time and are chugging like frat boys. Maybe time to transplant them. #6 is growing like a weed. Already has it's second node at the new split. #5 and #7 are moving along at a good rate also. #1 got its first split today and it was a bushy little devil. already had 3 nodes at its split. Might catch up to #6. The clones are healthy and putting off new roots. Need to transplant soon. As long as there are no more end user errors happen, everything else is good to go. Chernobyl seems to respond well to pruning and training.

OK Kush (Res. Pri.)
#1 was also a victim of bad judgement. As if it has not been through enough already, it got a hot spot too. Until then, all new growth was healthy. As for the rest, they're growing, but it's stretchy. I already knew this was a trait, but they don't like this treatment at all. That's all for now, til next time...

It was preventative. Just trying to keep all those little problems and pests at bay. Should have stuck to spraying them right after lights outs. Plus it help boost their immune system.

Transplanted #1, #5, #6 and #7 yesterday. They were drying out in less than a 24 hour period, so had too. Really choked up on the space. I was planning on getting them into 3 gallons and putting them in the flowering tent to get more room to veg, and put them into 7 gallons of super soil to finish. My bag seed currently running has finished yet and it's week 10. Damn unknown genetics. Gonna order all the stuff for super soil tomorrow, then hit the local shops for the large stuff. Got back on track with #2. New growth is green and back to a steady pace. #5 has developed really fast in 2 days. New main stems are about 3" long already. Hope that's not the sign of a male. #5 and 7 got tied down on there second split. #6 has surprised me and not grown as fast as #5 and #7. It's still healthy, so no sweat.

OG Kush (Res. Pro.)
#2 got transplanted also. All except #1 also got their second cut today. I know I messed up cutting them out so far up because I'm getting asymmetrical growth on them. I guess this will serve as a test to see if the opposite growth has any effect on bud development. Since nugs originally had problems with the two nodes on the main stem, it might have uneven flower growth. #1 has regained it's stamina once again, but still slow. this one will probably remain untouched.

Not much to report this time. #1 and #8 has received their second splits. #5 and #7 Got their third and final splits now. They're showing preflowers. #4 and #6 got trimmed to remove the upper leaves from shadowing the lower nodes that will be split. #2 and #3 had pollen sacs starting on the levels right below new growth. Axed them both. Good thing for #3 because transplanting shocked it. The rest are showing their little white hairs. #8 the last one to show but for now, no indication of what it might be. At least 5 of 8 female is not bad ratios. Got 6 in a 5 pack and 2 Freebies. As for now, just letting them grow on and waiting for the flower tent to get free so I can start cloning for keeps.

OG Kush (Res. Pri.)
#1 isn't getting any healthier, so I think I'm going to let it go. The rest are healthy, just a bit stretched. Not going to top them any more. With #3, I've started pulling it down getting all the remaining branches an even canopy. It will have 7 total just not in a true main lining fashion. I'm probably not going to report on this one anymore unless something changes. Once I get to flowering, I'll pick back up.

On a side Note made my batch of super soil today. September 19th is the day I hope to transplant into the 7 gallon pots for finishing. The plants will be good and ready for flower after 3 months of veg. Planning on 6 going in to keep room open without crowding the tent. After running 12 in there, it's a big pain in the ass getting in and doing upkeep. Til next time...

Sorry for not updating sooner. The final count is 5 female out of 8 seeds. #1, #4, #5, #6 and #7. Everything is streamlining it's way to flowering. Waiting on the Super Soil to cook so I can transplant and flip to 12/12. #8 Turned out to be a male, so he got whacked about 3 days ago. #1 and #4 are the last two left in the veg tent. Just received their third cuts today. Growth is slow but the branching is really tight and the plants are very healthy. #4 smells incredible. Since these two are the slowest, they got a proper main lining cut. Now just a bit more length before trimming and bending. The other 3 in the flower tent are growing really fast. Might need to raise the light so I can prevent any more height before they stretch. All in the flower tent have their support rings anchored. They're getting plenty of light all around. #7 is the fastest grower, so had to do a lot of tying to keep her even with the rest of the canopy.

OG Kush
All three are now in the flower tent since Chernobyl #8 freed up a lot of room. #2 is the slowest grower. Only Cut back twice, it has remained very short but the side branches are raising up very fast, so the HPS definitely jumped started its growth. #3 has turned into a monster. Lots of side branching action all over it and a dank smell when I rub the stalk. #4 Is keeping up with rest of the plants. #3 and Chernobyl #7 are gonna be hard to control. They might end up with super cropped tips. Fearing the stretch.

Also, I now have two clones of #1 and #4 and will take some from the rest when a lower branch gets long enough. Going to keep the best of the two. My buddy hooked me up with 4 clones of his TGA crop. 2 Space Bomb and 2 Cheese Quake. Each one off of a different plant and all identified as female. Once they get a little taller, I'm going to start a journal on those. They'll all flower with the Chernobyl that's still in veg. Going to see how much I can get them to branch for mainlining since they're low cuts. Hopefully everything will stay symmetrical. On that note, the nodes that were offset from each other are starting to even themselves out with the bending and tying. That's it for now, until next time...
