Al sorry to hijack your thread, I have been reading your posts, like the SOG 2 week stuff. I live in Perth (please. dont laugh.) ? Seeds, only seeds avail locally are crud, do you know if I order from a good seed bank (Canada say) will they be delivered. Finding a somewhere here would be better, I have only ever grown crud as the seeds you use ............. Any help? Sorry again.

A thermostat is just a switch. It needs to be in the power lead of the device you want to control.
The first thing you need is a thermostat that will do the day/night temp control you want. When you're shopping you'll need to be sure it can switch the amount of current required by the heater and/or aircon unit. Start by phoning up your local HVAC trade supply house.

A thermostat is merely a switch.
It is installed in the LINE or HOT lead to the fan. The COM & NC labels are provided for users of the Qt7200 thermostat, but any thermostat with contacts rated to switch line voltage (120V or 240V depending on your location) at a couple amps will do.

another thing... is there a way to hook 2 different fans up? one to exhaust and when it gets too hot and one too intake if it falls under a certain temperature? because i'm doing my stealth grow outside and it's going to be on average 40-70*F and i don't want them to freeze or to burn...

Just wire a thermostat into an extension lead or power strip. You can then run the intake & exhaust on the same tstat. Heat from lights will raise the temp, fans will trigger when temp goes above your setpoint and switch off when it falls below it.

yeah, its a stealth trashcan, but i can't let my kid see it. and its in the same place i grew outdoors last season without disruption, but its my first indoor grow so i'm trying to figure this out...

Sorry, I don't have high hopes for any grow that uses CFL for flowering.

apart from that? because i was actually planning on doing one of 2 things: just using this to keep a mother alive until next spring; or, coverting 2 70w security lights...
and does the theremostat have to be programable? i've found 2, one programable one not, that seem to fit the specifications. also, look at the 3rd one, i don't know how to describe it.

If you're going to flower under artificial light, you're wasting your time unless you're using HPS.
Programmable? For what, aside from the temp setpoint?
This is the same link twice.
'Low voltage' rated thermostats can not switch line voltage. They are designed for a 24V control voltage, not 120 or 240 line voltage.

Being in the HVAC trade, when you say digital thermostat, most people think ones that control you home AC units, which as AL stated is 24volts.
The thermostat being talked about is refered to is a Line Voltage Thermostat.
I hate to see some moron buy a regular 24volt Tstat and hook it up to 120!
