Checking Tricomes after Harvesting?

When i get some preemo bud that ive bought and put it under a microscope i can see plenty of clear tricomes, but i can't make out many cloudy ones & i have never ever seen any amber ones

After you've dried & cured does all that tricomes color stuff fly out the window?

I got a 60x so that should be powerful enough to see them in detail?

Maybe when the plant is in bloom they are easier to make out than after drying, curing, bagging etc...

...

I've never looked at any high grade that I've purchased under the scope, but some of my own best usually has a lot of clears but mostly cloudy with a little amber. But that brings me to think about conducting an experiment of flavor and effect vs. the color of trichomes... Has anyone done this???... I am very interested in hearing any theories.

I can maybe make out a few cloudy tricomes, but amber ones i have never seen, and the stuff i get is very high grade bud

Im hoping when its time to harvest the microscope i have is powerful enough to make out the tricomes... im sure when they're fresh blooming on the plant they'll be easier to see then bud thats been knocked about & bagged up

:?:

60x is definetely enough to see them. I look through anything between 40x and 60x to see mine. Once the buds get white with trichs pull off a small leaf from around the bud and take a look. Its pretty amazing.

I just looked at this bud I've got and can see all three. clear, cloudy and amber. mostley cloudy.

Maybe im just being dazzled by the clear ones so missing sight of the cloudy/amber ones, i can see cloudy for sure if i look really hard, but no amber...

Im sure on the live plant they'll be more obvious

Thanks for the replies, btw im looking to harvest when i see a few of each (amber, clear & cloudy)

Great question and discussion. I have one of the 60X rip off specials from Radio Shack but I am blind in one eye and cant see too good out of the other. I cant hold it still enough to see thricomes on the plant and I have looked at the leaves near the bud and never have seen a trichome on there. Person on here one day posted some good info on judging ripeness by looking at the plant. Apparently when its ready to pluck it looks ready. Plus rep for you.

Must not have let them finish fully.Put the bud in the sun for a few minutes, they shoul all amber up.I like clippin, when they're barely starting to amber.

i asked this question myself, didn't get too much in the way of answers
had some nl#5 with quite a bit of clear
was taking a LONG time to ripen, so cut it with a lot of clear, some amber
2 weeks after cure, a good amount of the clear trics had become golden yellow
pretty wild, i'm sure the trics change, but this is just one case
