check out this super closet

I recently bought the supercloset advertised on hightimes(supercloset.com). It cost a bit but Its doing the job. I am figuring out the rotation cycle between the bottom veg. chamber and the top flow. chamber. I am going to start cloning and I had a question. Because of limited space in my veg. chamber, I am forced to move them up early to the 600w h.p.s. flowering chamber. Can I start flowering and take clones from the females a.s.a.p. or will it be to late to clone.

Just wondering what you think of the Supercloset? That looks like the "deluxe"? I've been trying to find some independent reviews on this thing online and am considering purchasing it. I'd appreciate an opinion from someone using the thing. Is it worth the money to not have to go through the time and trouble to build one myself? Thanks

I payed 2700 with shipping and the upgraded hps light. For how much I payed, there are too many flaws with it. I should have settled for the 400hps because its impossible to grow with the doors even half way shut(heat gets over 90F). If you need a closet that is discreet like I did, this was the best one I found. I made some alterations and things are smooth now, but unless you cant afford to get caught, keep looking. Here are my BB's at 5 weeks.

I bet that closet cost alot...I just read what you payed for it. I guess if you have the $$$ more power to ya.

I could buy a car for that. A POS....but still a car.

Thats a bit extravagant for a personal grower like myself.

I really had no choice. I wanted to grow, but the manager at my apartment does maintenance inspections so this is the ONLY discreet closet I could find. Its the only one with all the controls on the back, and it actually looks like a wall locker when the doors are closed. As for the money, it seemed a bit rediculous but it will pay off in the long run.

Thanks for the info. Other than sticking with the 400W HPS, what other problems did you have? Did going to the 400W HPS bulb fix the heat problem? Any other mods needed to the box? I am also wondering how true their statements are about being able to set it and leave it for up to 3 days. Any comments on that?

I am in the same boat where I need a nice looking discrete cabinet that doesn't look like what it actually is. Some of the other boxes look nice, but its obvious what they do when you look at them. Any advice or info is appreciated. Like everyone says, its a shit load of money to spend, but it would be nice to be self-sufficient.

Thanks again.:blsmoke:

That is a bad ass box though...And you're right...it'll pay for itself in the long run. Just dont do 2 grows and stop using it...then it would be a waste.

But Im sure thats NOT what you're gonna do....Happy growing

And give us pics as it comes along.

Hey Emo, I didnt change the bulb because where I live its cool in the summer. I leave the doors half way open and it stays around 75-80 which isnt bad for a 600 hps in a confined area. The mini fan that comes with it helps keep it cool, but never leave the doors closed with the light on or your plants are fucked. I did this the first day and some leaves were deformed for the rest of the grow. If you figure out the minor pump problems, you can leave it for 3 days like they said. The hose used for intake in the top ebbnflow is too long, and it kinks when you put the top on. I had to cut it now it flows pretty well. Other than that, there are minor things that can be worked out. Its very discreet, but once you start using the top chamber, the output fan is always on and noticable. Its worth it for me. Check out my journal.

Thanks for the info. Sounds pretty good. I guess when using something new, working out the kinks can be expected. I'm probably going to go with this cabinet soon. I wonder if going with the original 400W light would help you be able to close the door? It should be plenty of light for the space and generate less heat.

Anyway, thanks for the tips and the link to your journal. I'll check that out. And when I get up and running, I'll post some stuff for you guys to look at.

definitely go with the 400w. I have to keep the doors open at night when its below 55 and it stays around 74. I dont know if im abel to put the 400 in the 600 ballast so im sticking with it. Youll also be saving money. If you live in No. Cal. you can save on shipping, which is quite a bit. get that op going soon so we can compare.

This really doesnt seem to stealth to me.
1. Doors open!
2. Noisy exhaust fan
3. External Ballast
4. no carbon filter or smell reduction
It doesnt sound any more stealth than my Hps just sitting in my closet, but i only payed $150. I dont mean to make your purchase sound like a waste of money. I was just wondering wether you still think it was in fact worth it?

That is definitely a good point. If you have to leave the doors open, its not really very stealthy. I know it has a carbon filter on the back, but after seeing the pics of the back of the unit (Thanks Jonny), which are definitely not shown on the company's website, it looks like it has to sit a foot or more away from the wall to have clearance for all the vents, filters, and ballast. Seems like a cabinet sitting a foot away from a wall isn't very stealthy either.

I'm still worried about the heat issue. My house temp would be between 68-75 degrees, and it sounds like even with the smaller 400w light, it may still heat up anywhere from 10-20 degrees hotter inside the cabinet which really is to hot.

Jonny, have you tried the company's technical service line? If so, what did they say? They advertise the thing like it shouldn't be a problem, but temps over 90 degrees with the doors shut sounds like a big problem.

Sounds like I may have to shop around a little more before I make a final decision on something. Thanks again for all the info. Keep it coming.

I called them and they told me that there putting aluminum tape around the edges of the light because heat was escaping. I bought the tape, but it helped little. I think you might be able to close the doors with the 400w and if the outside temp stays below 65F.

I didnt know about the back clearence needed, but it turned out the thing looks good on the corner, so that wasnt a prob for me. As for the output fan that is always on... It is noticeablebly loud, not too bad. Its set up so that you can reach back real fast and shut off the master switch.

Overall, its not as discreet as they let on. The filter works perfect, no smells. Other than that, someones gonna notice it while the lights and fans are on. All this being said, the grow is not bad.

Johny, just wanted to ask you how your clones are doing. I was told, by a fairly reputable source, that you shouldn't take clones after the first or second week of flowering. Reason being, it screws with the hormonal cycle of the plant. Which can cause your plants to do strange things, like turn hermi. The absolute best time to clone is in the veg. cycle.

Man, it really does look nice standing in the corner like that. I am so torn in what I should do. I'm considering trying to build myself a small room in a closet space. I know I can do it cheaper, but just don't know if I feel like going through the hassle. I finished my own basement, and even though it looks nice, it was a pain in the ass and took forever. If you had the option of building your own space, or still buying the Supercloset, which one would you go with now?

As for the cabinet itself, have you looked into or asked about possibly upgrading your exhaust fan or somehow adding another fan on the back? Although that would require another carbon filter, and would probably run another couple hundred dollars. It would also increase the noise. But you may be able to keep the doors closed then.
