Cheap Inlet filter

This is my first real grow, using 2 6.5x6.5 tents. Being in the basement where it does get a little musty (working on that), I definitely want to filter the inlet air. I know this topic has been covered but I was looking for some creative ideas. Has anyone tried Shop Vac filters? Fairly inexpensive... Or is it worth coughing up the money for a cone filter?

Thanks man, I Think that's what I'll go with. Build a box to fit a filter and a booster fan. In learning about the different filter types and then shopping around, I found that Granger has good prices on various filters, looking at a 10x30x1 MERV 10 for $13. If your employer already orders through granger, then no shipping! Perfect! 8)

Thought I'd share my contraption for anyone else who might be looking. I ended up using a thin sterilite tote, a 14x20x1 merv 10 filter I found at the local hardware store for 10 bucks, a 6" stove pipe flange, a 280 cfm in line booster fan off ebay, and some duct tape! The booster fan will be in line rather than on the box so there's not too much weight on the plastic. Don't mind the extra duct tape, accidentally put my hand through it cutting the circle! :dunce: all you have to do to change the filter is take the lid off, cut or remove old duct tape and slap a new one in! 0918150705a.jpg 0918150714.jpg 0918150705b.jpg0918150705.jpg
