cheap 150W hps light? $45

Found this hps security light for $45. What do you think? Could it be modded to use in grow tent? Considering ordering to try..

just buy a real 150 hps grow light.whats 15$ more hell even home depot sells them now.

Lol I live in the middle of nowhere.. Hours away to get one and have local post office with no door to door delivery.. Really don't want a box labeled "High pressure Sodium Grow Light" or "Hydro-whatever Mart" showing up lol. "Security light" sounds better to me

Also have a budget of like 80 bucks or less and one I found on amazon.com won't ship to my address lol

yea i got one from htg supply a while back they had a auction on ebay 68 shipped even came with a glass panel you can get that joker inches away runs cooler then my 125w cfls

htg ships plain brown box ups been ordering from them for years the only thing even remotely bad is the return says htg suppy which could be a acrynom for anything heggers town gangster supply lol

ps that security light sounds like bad news back in the day when i first started growing we stole a 400w hps from outside a convenient store..yes very convenient for us mind you i was like 17 at the time but man was it a pos idk if it was the bulb or what some of the worst smoke iv had

you plan on growing get a grow light man, leave the security lights outside

Well if its your only choice then go for it,all i can say is be safe.I never heard of people who don't get packages lol ,they don't always ship out labeled boxes my systems came in a brown box with only my name on it.

I'm in Canada, in a tiny little one-store-plus-post-office town

everything goes to our little post office box. If its too big its a card and you get the parcel at the counter. I already fucked up when I ordered my tent, but I got lucky and the amazon.car slip was folded right where it said (in bold caps) "GROW TENT FOR HYDROPONICS"....... Lucky.. Don't wanna risk that again lmao

Yea, that's what I have right now, I just threw together a fixture with shit from around the house, I just don't want to flower under cfl,

but give em a call www.htgsupply.com they are really nice and have awesome customer service they might do something special for you if you give em a call

they have a ebay account i order bulk from their site but when i need a few things i hit ebay i don't see why thier ebay account wouldn't

OK, thanks. I do see a nice 150W on there that looks nice, I guess I'll try contacting them

Edit: looking at their policies page, it states "we do not ship outside the U.S.A." I contacted them anyway, but after seeing that I'm not optimistic about it lol

Edit again: just saw that you mentioned their eBay.. I'll try that

Yea.. After more looking around everything is pretty expensive.. Wouldn't it just be a matter of getting a proper grow bulb for that fixture I linked to in the first post?

Haha hey man I wasn't trying to shoot you down, I actually built 2 fixtures, one for my veg shelf and one for my flower tent, but I've been kinda lurking through all the cfl threads on here, and knowing my own limited experience level, I figure I should probably go hps before I disappoint myself at harvest time lol

I use a 150w MH flood light, I removed & rewired the ballast (remote) and still using it in my veg box along with a vertical 150w HPS, a lot better than the 375 real watts cfls I used before.
for flowering I use a normal 400w HPS street light in a DIY aircooled reflector (also a flood light type reflector) and its doing the job just fine.
