I think it is a strain made by those douchebag brothers and they do not give out cuttings or beans as far as I have heard.

It is a clone only I thought. Check out CBD crew. My guess is if you went and made some F2's you'd find some pure CBD plants in the mix - probably around 25%.

Yes, it was made famous by those brothers from Colorado who used to have a weed reality show.
From what I've read, they are working on getting it into seed form with a major breeder, I think it was DNA.
At one point I was totally stoked about picking up some CBD Crew Seeds, but once I did some research, my smile turned upside down.
CBD Crew, while run by super knowledgeable breeders from Resin Seeds and Mr. Nice Seeds, their seeds seems to exhibit a lot of hermie issues.
There hasn't been much talk about it on this board before, but if you look at other forums where growers are sharing their experiences with CBD Crew gear, it isn't very encouraging.
Strangely enough, Cannatonic from Resin Seeds, doesn't seem to suffer from the hermie problem as bad as it's half-sisters at CBD Crew do.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not poo-pooing your idea of breeding your own CBD strain, I plan on doing it myself in the future.
I just think there are better genetics to try and breed with, namely Reggae Seeds, and TGA Seeds.
Reggae Seeds whole line is high in CBD's, and their Dancehall strain, has won a bunch of awards.
Pennywise from TGA looks very promising and so does the feedback from those who've grown it so far.
If the author of the thread is looking for the highest CBD levels from seed, I believe Cannatonic and Pennywise, would be the best bets currently available.

TGA isn't the place I'd go looking for a definitive CBD phenotype given their practices, you'd have to hunt and probably do testing as well. At least based on what I've seen from everything else they've released.

I wonder what the ratio of high CBD plants there are in cannatonic. It would tell you more about what ratio to expect in an F2.

As for TGA, I didn't mean their whole line, just Pennywise, which is a Harlequin cross.
Yes, some pheno hunting would be required, but that is to be said about any CBD heavy strain, in seed form, right now.
In an interview I saw with the Resin Seeds ladies, they mentioned that they had lost one of the original parents to Cannatonic in a raid.
They went on to say that they found a new parent in their seed stock, and that the chances of getting a high CBD plant have now increased to 50%.
With the original parents, it was only a 25% of getting a high CBD plant.
I wonder if their story is true, or just a clever way of covering up for the fact that Cannatonic is now only available in feminized form.
To help make this post more applicable to the thread, I am currently running 3 Dance Worlds by Royal Queen Seeds, in search of a high CBD plant myself.

My funds were limited and I really wanted to try Dancehall, so I picked up the 3 pack of Dance World, which is just a feminized version of Dancehall.
Also, the fact that these seeds instantly became among RQS best sellers, and are often sold out at the seedbanks, this tells me people like what they are getting enough to keep coming back for more.
I'll know for sure in a couple of months.

Maybe it will be Pennywise at the end of the day as I want regular beans. I know the CBD crew guarantee a minimum 1:1 ratio which is better than most. That's why I was leaning that direction, and I'm pretty sure they have some regular beans as well although they are always sold out.

Pennywise by TGA, Sweet n Sour Widow by CBD Crew, and the entire line of Reggae Seeds, are the only regular seeds available for high CBD strains.
CBD Crew does guarantee a 1:1 THC/CBD ratio, but with Sweet n Sour Widow having the worst herm problems out of the line, I steered clear of it.
As for the testing on Pennywise, it's been pretty close to a 1:1 ratio from what I've seen, with levels being somewhere between 3%-13%.
I know people may not like Subcool, but he's not the breeder at TGA anymore, Dioxide is, and he knows his shit.

So getting the story from that thread, it sounds like his Widow regular seeds had no issues. The feminized varieties had issues. 60% of Critical Mass hermed and 20% of Nordle. Those were feminized. Only 100 seeds (total from 6 lines) were tested before releasing the fem versions to patients, ironically, in an effort to get them to patients quicker - probably should have worked one or two lines instead but 6 ? Not good IMO. I think a lot of folks would will be growing these could have their lives depending on them. Plus side it appears that all of them had high levels of CBD. He loved his Widow plants I'll probably still pick up some CBD crew regs. Maybe Pennywise as well. We'll see what else gets released - we could see an entirely different line emerge from somewhere possibly.
I recall a thread on icmag (it might have been that Sativa revival thread somewhere deep buried) where a guy popped some landrace sativas and came across one that was pure CBD. He had some pics and the plants looked crazy compared to what we're used to (more Dr. Grinspoon like).

if you want high cbd just find some hemp seeds to grow and extract it. either juice or oil, the cbd levels will be higher than most cannabis strains that were originally made made for the stoned effect. when they do studies for cbd they use hemp seeds for a reason. thc based cannabis made to become high cbd is just trying to turn a high thc plant into a hemp plant which has already been done by the hemp industry. if you look at hemp stats for cbd levels you will see they are off the charts compared to weed that is bred for stone. hemp seed go for about a buck each if you can find them, high cbd cannabis strains sell for around ten dollar a se-ed in general. if youre going for cbd you can use male plants so fem'ed doesnt make a difference. you can juice male leaves and still get the cbd you need. in fact, the way most test for cbd is from leaves of plants not the bud material. personally i think if someone is breeding a high cbd plant they will be breeding for a big leafy plant that can be 'harvested' almost weekly. meaning the harvest would include leaf material not just buds like most smokers want.

I'd be pretty curious to see what % CBD is in industrial hemp. Most hemp is grown for fiber at this point, not resin. So it'd be interesting to see, but interesting advice there Galv.

They've been using hemp to get CBD for tinctures and oils over in Europe for a while now.
Now that hemp is starting to be grown in the US again, we'll have to wait and see if our own hemp industry will follows the Europeans lead.

There is a limitation as to both cbd and thc in a particular combination within cannabis. It's not like one will find a 50% thc or cbd plant due to genetic potential. Not to say gmo could not change that but that's how our current understanding is.
