Chantix is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist. It both reduces cravings for and decreases the pleasurable effects of cigarettes and other tobacco products, and through these mechanisms it can ASSIST some patients in stopping smoking.

Cannabinoid receptors are a class of receptors that are activated by cannabinoids, generated naturally inside the body (endocannabinoids) or introduced into the body as cannabis or a related synthetic compound. There are currently two known types of cannabinoid receptors, termed CB1 and CB2.

Chantix acts to partially block the nicotinic receptor, so that cigarettes are no longer enjoyable. (Not that they were ever enjoyable in my opinion..)

I have been unable to locate any information that shows that Chantix has any effect, either positive or negative, on the CB1 or CB2 cannabinoid receptors.
