hey everyone,
I'm a nob to this site yes put to smokin now wa...i have a pretty good concept of growing i think and my pants are doing well. i would jsut liek to know which kind of CFL's to use for the flowering state considering a HPS or metal halide would be more noticable up on my Girlfriends Dad's bill and probably grab his attention. Thanks alot.

Well, I think using the warm yellowish CFL's are supposed to have a better red spectrum for flowering. I'm sure another member will come up with the specifics. And hey if you used a 250watt HPS, you could just get a crap pc and say its that? I'm pretty sure most pc and monitors burn alot more then 250watts.

red spectrum, the 4500k and lower lights are for flowering.

but i don't believe computers use more then 250 watts, dude. plus, when you upgrade to an HID there is added expense, power consumption, heat and noise from venting equipment. just keep in mind.

Yeah closet is right, you gotta worry about the heat, noise, etc... It wouldn't be a walk in the park. But most computers take between 65 - 250watts, and a typical 17" monitor takes like 80watts. And I heard that a 250watt HPS should be able to at least cover 2-3 plants. And if you veg a plant 'till 12 inches, when you switch to flowering it will usually double if not triple in height. But 12" most plants are mature enough to flower. There is a set of standards, but they escape me as of now:confused:. Search the forums for stealth grows, might help you out.

How much electricity does my computer use?

Uhh I posted a comment, but guess it didnt go through. Most pc's use between 65-250watts, and monitors about 80watts. You should search stealth grow if you're still intrested in trying an HPS grow. HPS is great for flowering, and whatever height you choose to flower at, the plant will usually double in height.
