CFL's?

hey all! i just found this site today and i've been doing research on growing my own "ganja" for a while now....i've heard that if you wanted to, you could use those energy saving CFL's that fit in desk lamps and such...my question is, what is the ideal wattage for a light like that?

just to give you a setup of how my "grow room" is: it's a footlocker turned on it's end with the light hanging from the top (i turned it on it's end so i could get taller plantes..duh!)

so the space i'm working with is about 1.5ft x 2ft x 3.5ft (roughly)...also i forgot to mention, i'm installing a muffin fan from an old computer in the back/top for air circulation.

anyway...back to my question...if i used a 100w CFL would that be enough to make the plants bud? i'm not looking for TONS of it and i'm also not smoking it...i'm simply growing maybe 3-4 plants to see how they do.

please help,
and thanks in advance :hump:

For my first grow i used 120watts of cfl's and it did the job got about 20 grams, just make sure you real cfl wattage and not the incandesent eqivulent!

I'm in the middle of a grow that's fairly close to your dimensions. Tube 16 x 38 inches. I'm using 78w of cfl's which is on the low side of recommended watts. Plant has entered flower and the bud is beginning to form. Not sure what my yield will be, but shows you can scale down and still get some results.

You want like 6 bad boy cfl's for 3-4 plants and they have to be 6500k spectrum which will be the daylight bulbs emitting blue light. Then you want some 6 bad boy 2700k soft/warm light for the flowering period of the plant.

i'm going to be using (6) 55w CFLs for my cabinet stealth grow for 6 or 9 flowering clones with no veg time, it's 1.5'x1.5'x4'
