Cfl's in a trashcan

Here is an idea I put to use. I haven't really seen too many of these out there. I am not claiming to be the first in any way. Just not too many people out there posting much about growing in trash cans. This is a dj's flo clone I picked up from a co-op. Pretty much put it into flower a couple days after I purchased it. There isn't and abundance of vertical growth space in a trash can. I have two 42w 2700k cfls and two 13w 6500k cfls for lighting. They are on 12/12 cycle. I have a four inch fan blowing into a duct on the bottom. The air is forced out a bunch of 1/4" holes I drilled in the underside of the rim. Stays fairly cool in there. She is in some plain potting soil and is watered a small amount daily with a mixture of nutes. The inside of the can is lined with some cheap foil. The whole set up cost $72 clone included. I will keep this thread updated with pics as I go.

Wow that is an awesome thread greyskull. Thanks for posting it. I have come up with a few more ideas for the future grows. This thing is an experiment for me. I read both sides of the arguement for cfl's and decided I had to try and grow a good product from them. I have an hps set up that is in my homemade grow tent that are looking awesome. I am going to post a pic of how the can grow is coming in a bit.

She is budding. I would like to note that it took 1 day more two show signs of flowering than my hps set up. Could be the strain though. I would also like to note that this plant looks better at its stage than my hps does at same time. Could be the strain though. In my hps I have 4 different strains, and they showed signs of flower at the same times though. Once again this cfl only grow, it is an experiment, because no one knows until they try for themselves. I must say, I like what is going down so far, but curious for the final product. If I can go green on my greens, why not.

I just took out the two 13w 6500k cfl's and replaced them with the 42w 3000k. So now there are 4 42w 3000k. Let's see what happens.

Nw that gro pod is a nice piece of gear, might look into making one......out of a 2000l water tank maybe, 2 5000w floodies, and a radiator fan setup...POUNDAGE!!!
