i would personally use MH for the veg, since the blue-spectrum in HPS is nonexistent.

who cares if HPS are more efficient concerning lumen output, the fact remains that they're missing a critical part of the visible light spectrum.

we should be more focused on PAR and the CRI. my two cents...

I have used an HPS 400watt ballast with an MH bulb during veg and HPS during flower with no ill effects...I know many say you can't do it, but I can...I guess it may depend on the ballast...LED lights are not cost effective yet...maybe one day. Also try using an MH during last week or so of flowering to increase trichs and potency ;)
