Just need some opinions on the veg closet. With a group of bagseed under a 400W MH for flowering, it was time to set up a separate veg area for efficiency. Tell me what you think. I've got 8 23w CFL's in ther providing well over 10k lumens to a roughly (a little smaller) than 4x4 area.

That's less than a thousand lumens per sq ft if all of the 4x4 is grow space. Not nearly enough.

3000 lumens per sq ft.. for vegging..you have 12 sq ft.. do the math....(4'x3' space) also you should flower with hps bulb instead of MH..they sell conversion bulbs for your light..you need red spectrum for flowering and thats what hps have.. MH are for vegging and has blue spectrum in it to suppoert veg growth..
your 23 watt cfl are around 1500 lumens so your at 12,000...i say you need alot more cfl's... 12 sq ft x 3000lumens per sq ft = 36,000 lumens...
also it depends on how many plants because sometimes your not really using 12 sq ft. of space so it can put your overall lumen total down...also get some 42 watters there about 2800 lumens per bulb..or they sell 125 watters at 8,500 lumens and 200 watters at 12,800 per bulb..and you have to get the adapter socket so yuo can plug'em in...

I got the CFL's at two different stores, they average about 11-16 dollars for a 5 pack of 23watters. Will this be enough for a 2x2 area? My apologies on the bad info at first.
You CAN flower with a MH anyway though right? It's really the only HID lamp I have access to right now. How could I add some red spectrum? Will just adding a few red FL's do the trick? Red Flood Lights? I find it hard to believe that 12/12 under a MH wouldn't induce flowering, even though its not the best choice.

Thats ok i was looking at your picture it didn't look that big...i would say yeah you have just enough....as for as the MH light goes i suppose you can.. i grow with cfl's in a small space but my buddy has a full scale Room he does and thats what he uses...i guess you can add some cfl's red specs like you said and it should do the trick...
its a weed its gonna grow and flower anyway..i think you use the different bulbs just to get maximum out of the plant..
That't what I figured, thanks for the info. I'm still not experienced enough to maximize my crop with small details like MH or HPS for flowering. I have to learn with what I got now so it will be worth it later to upgrade and spec my gear.
