CFL setup

im new to growing and i need some advice for how to arrange my lights in my closet. I have no idea on how to arrange all these light bulbs. I dont wanna spend 100$ on a bunch of lamps. Of course i want to be able to move my lights. Also do the CFL's with the higher watts (42+) use regular sockets? Im open for any helpful suggestions.

Hey rapper, welcome to RIU.

To be able to answer your question we need a little more info. How big is the closet, how many plants your going to grow, do you have to worry about being stealthy with your set up? To be successful with cfl's you are going to have to be a little bit of a DIY guy.

First off , I would check out the diy section for some ideas on how to build a reflector. I would also cruise the second hand stores(goodwill, salvation army and so forth) for used clamp lights and light bars and any other items you could use.

Also the 42w do use the regular base up to 65 watts but I can't remember if the 125's use the medium base or the mogul socket. Just google cfl or grow light and u can find the answer.

I have my girls under 12, 23w 2700k and 1, 68w 2700k. The nice thing about the smaller bulb are that they are easily repositioned as the plant grows.

You just need to remember that it is the sum of all things and not just one that makes a plant grow.

I'm starting with 2 white widow plants. Stealth isn't a huge deal. The closet is 3' deep about 7' long and 7' ceiling. I can have exact measurements in a few days. I see people on here with 8+ cfl bulbs over their plants; do I just need a few Y splitters? And for reflection; I was gonna use emergency blankets.

ok, since you'll only be growing 2 plants, you'll probably need about 6-10 23 watts, these should do just fine, and y splitters are way easier on your pockets than buying a whole bunch of lamps, they cost about 2.50 at my local home depot here on guam! and those safety blankets should do just fine as reflective insulation!
