CFL mounting tip for small boxes

I've been reading here for some time, and have learned a lot of great tips. Finishing up my second grow, will post some pics soon.

When I built a veg box recently, I was looking for a cheap, quick & easy way to mount CFL's. I bought some of the plug in sockets, they're about $1.50 or so at wallyworld:

I'd thought about mounting regular power strips to plug them into, thinking the lights could be moved around on them, but they're somewhat limited for spacing as well as being bulky and costing more.

I already had several of the cheapo extension cords, ~ $4.50 for a 3-pack looks like this

I thought that I'd see how they'd hold up hot-glued to wood, and it works great. I did it on separate strips of wood, but you could glue them directly to a box - if it's plywood, not sure how it would hold up on MDF etc.

I gobbed hot glue to the side with one plug-in, slapped it on the wood, then gobbed glue all around it. Another gob on the wire to keep it from flopping around, and I wired them them all together to one plug. They're cheap enough that you could put in extras, spacing them out horizontally and vertically to give you some adjustment. With the two plug-ins facing out, that gives you a bit of adjustment at each mounting poing. My lights are mounting horizontally, they're quite sturdy so far after a few months of occasionally unplugging and moving.

I'd previously used both ceramic and plastic screw on sockets, and prefer this method as it's quick and easy, as well as taking up less space inside the box.
