CFL lighting Inquiry.

I have a 6+2 socket light socket. i was wondering if I used 6 27W 6500K CFLs and two 40W LED plant lights if i would need more lighting for vegging a single plant in 3x3 tent. I also have a 120W T-5 ficture that is 4 bulbs in a 2x4 ft fixture. Should i run them both later in veg or would the diy foxture be enough?

With the 8 bulbs, you could veg a pretty good sized plant. Keep it short. How big of plant are you trying to grow? Certain amount of veg time you’re thinking of? Not sure what kind of socket you’re talking about

Looking to veg for about 7 weeks, until my current ones are done flowering, then Ill be swapping it over to 2X300W LEDs for flower, want to scrog and fill the 3x3 tent, canopy height restriction of 5 feet after flower stretch, so about 3 feet for veg(leaving space for lights above)

The lighting socket looks kind of like a circle with 6 outlets around the side causing the cfls to be horizontal with the fixture the middle is a single socket but I put a splitter in to make it two, which causes the 40W leds to shine down directly and be about 4 inches closer than the cfls will send picture when im home

No reflector and that rig is probably what? A foot across? Gonna have to keep it pretty close. I’d say you’ll probably want to throw the t5 in there as well when it gets bigger and you’re training it to be wider. Best to have a bulb within inches of all top leaves so it will eventually need more overhead light area to completely cover over the plant or you’ll get weak branching

You’ll waste almost half of your total par from cfls with that rig. Fashion a reflector for that or get another fixture. What are you gonna flower it under?
Flowering under two 300w viperspectras, potentially 630W CMH if my tax return comes in before flower. I built a reflector from aluminum and mylar that goes just above its about 1.5 feet end to end. This isnt meant to be fantastic, I just wanted to grow something practice LST and scrog in my second tent while waiting for my tax return to get my CMH. i have two 300W viperspectras atm but they are flowering three other plants in my main tent.

I normally use the above fixture to veg out tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers

Yeah but you can definitely make it much more efficient and burn a bit more than half of what you are right now for the same outcome. Carbon footprint and all. Its just not efficient to run it open like that. But if you made a reflector good job. It’ll be much more efficient that like.

Keeping it close is better with floros but i’m a little worried about the angle of the leds. I think if you keep it too close the angle will cause much light to scatter away from the middle. But you know not every diy is perfect and neither it should be. If it gets the job done. Ok.

I introduce to you: Carbon reducer 9000

Removed the two LEDs and replaced with two more 27W CFLS

Meh. Cfl work but led home bulbs would be better.

I started with CFL and then went to t5 and then to cob led.

It will work for the time beimg but those cfl will loose power over time.

If you read above theyre only for 7 - 9 weeks and being replaced by 630 CMH, I already run LED in my main tent. Have 40W leds bulbs but cant get a good angle on them. will likely run them in the corners on a clip socket with splitters if need be.

This is a no spend grow with whats laying around. while I wait on my taxes to get my CMH, extra fans and humidifier / dehumidifer

Once the CMH arrives one tent will always be LED and the other always CMH, so if my taxes arnt back by 7 weeks (which they should be 5 weeks at the latest) for flowering ill use the LEDS and start need seedling under the T-5, but the plan is to have my 39x39x72 tent with CMH and my 36x26x72 with the LED's.

I'm also moving here within the next three months. Ill be moving up to 19 plants, getting another larger tent 4x8 and doing SOG with about 12 plants in that with the the 32x32 tent for mothers and the 39x39 will be used as a scrog tent with 2 plants that i want to get more quality out of. Really sucks being limited to 4 plants currently as my landlord won't sign my medical documents to allow me to grow my full 19.

The cmh will blow the doors off those blurple leds for flowering is the reason ia ask.

Yeah it'd be nice to swap them back and forth constantly but due to my back issues I like to do as little movement as possible. Eventually the blurples will just be supplemental.
