CFL Advice?

hello all. im in the process of making my own little stealth grow dresser and im using CFLs to grow. i looked around lots of shops and the biggest i could find without being the 150/200watt from the grow shop [tryin to be cheap] are these four 30watt chunky CFLs.

so today i banged together a little light setup that fits perfectly into the dresser and can be raised or lowered and i have the four bulbs in it,,,,what im wondering is wether this is sufficient light to grow one -at max two plants

would be very gratefull for any help.

these are the pics....

those are great for two plants.............just make sure you put them to flower on time so that it dosent outgrow your box. and look into LST

yeah thanks lowrider, still deciding wether to go auto or not, if i was to grow just one i would do a normal strain and lst the shit out of it. ive done two grows before but never really made it to full flowering,, ph problems etc. this time tho im not taking no for an answer,,,, gonaa do it rite. need to get on with work on the dresser!!!! i was thinkin maybe adding two more 23 watt spiral Cfls but if i can do it with what i already have i will

any more cfl advice would be well appreciated!

+rep lowrider cheers mate

I've been doing my cfl for about 3 months now but with almost no fertilizer. The more, the better of course. I used 6 of the spiral cfls, 27W. I switched into flower about a week or two ago, the growth immediately changed. Light temp is extremely important for this reason. The change to a warmer color made the growth closer to that under a HPS. Prior the leaves would grow but display little reaction to the light. Now they angle and all that fun stuff. I made my box but let them grow too long. They're outgrowing now so I'm bummed that I'm probably going to have to switch that up. Adding two more wouldn't hurt. I found that in my growth of cfls (tampered with normal plants as well), 3500 appeared to get the most action and activity out of the plant. the 5000k's from Home Depot didn't seemed to be regonized but produced a lot of light.

Good luck!

What color temp are those bulbs? Make sure they are 6500k or 2700k, or a mix of both. If the color temp is 3500-5000k the bulbs will be mostly useless. And the more the merrier! :blsmoke:

yeah man over here where i live they are honestly the biggest i have found and trust me ive looked, i had some twenty three watters and they are less than half the size. im not sure what kelvin or lumens they are because none of the packets over here say on them. they are much more red in colour than the 23watt bulbs, if u check out my last two grows u can see the difference, the first is with the smaller bulbs.

thanks for comments guys.

Well damn man. Just a suggestion. If your planning on hanging that fixture upside down BE CAREFUL! Cardboard aint very sturdy and you can watch your small investment break before your eyes. Been there, done that.

yeah vapor i know what ur sayin but i just dont have the space for hps at the moment, i worry about flowering with cfls aswell but ive seen lots of proof of people gettin a decent plant and bud using cfls all the way thru the grow. id love to just go with an hps and bad ass grow room but its just not possible just now.

both flowered under nothing but cfl's....I have switched to 400 watt hid and it is easier to manage and to keep cool as well but you definitely can flower with cfl's

2700k flower 6500 veg as many as you can fit and still keep it cool
