Centrifugal Exhaust Fan Selection

I've already acquired a 6" Active Air In-Line duct fan for the cooltube (180 cfm) and I'm looking for a 4" in-line that is QUIET for room ventilation that will push through my DIY dual-filter.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking at two different ones right now.. but I need some first-hand experience.

Vortex 4" Centrifugal Fan - 172 cfm | Exhaust Fans & Circulators

High Tech Garden Supply

The 6" fan I have now is really quiet.. but I need another that is just as quiet since the will both be running at the same time for 12 hours a day and then one 24 hours a day to control room temps and odor.

I'd like to find a 4" Active Air Cent. fan.. but no luck.. I might go back to the store where I got the 6".

Thanks in advance!

The Vortex fan is pretty loud, I've got it on top of my DR atm. I'm considering either insulation or moving it inside the tent so I can hang it on some bungee cords. At 172cfm it has no problem cleaning and venting the whole DR120 (roughly 100 cubic ft). I've got Filter -> Duct -> 6" Cool Breeze -> Duct -> Vortex and it works like a charm.

Since this is ultimately my flowering chamber I'll probably just leave it like it is and run it during the day.

Any fan that moves a lot of air through a small area is going to be loud. I suggest you get the 4" vortex and a speed controller.

The controller is a no-brainer.. but I have two different fans that are 6". One is MUCH louder than the other.

I'll be wiring the controller through a thermostat also.

If you have it figured out already, why did you start this thread?

Because I have two 6" fans from different companies and one is more silent than the other. I figured it would be the same for the high-dollar fans also. These were both $50 a piece.. I'm looking at spending double for just one 4" fan.

fans with polymer casings!!!!
Vortex has ball-bearings and ceramic coating.. they look great on pics, compared to others, and the marketing sounds amazing.

Ater speaking with some commercial growers I've decided to go with Vortex since I plan to keep this setup for some time.. like.. until I give it to my kids.

I know they won't last that long.. but that is how I'm thinking about efficiency.
