Ceiling of my room

ceiling.jpgI am enclosing my flower room which was just in a room in a basement but I need to add exhaust for odor. I have framed the area with 2x4s and stapled tarps around the room but I am unsure how to do the ceiling. I am attaching a photo of what the wall to celing looks like on one side. I need to enclose it but I don't want to add plastic over the whole ceiling. It is an unfinished basement ceiling. A friend said to use insulation foam up but it means cutting lots of pieces to fit between wood beams. Anyone have a better, easier idea?

Sorry I am not a very handy construction type. I have no idea what hanging sheetrock is like nor do I know what a joist is :sad:.
I wish I had someone to do this for me but it's a lonely life growing in a state that isn't up to speed.

i would go to home depot and get fiberglass insulation...they make it already cut to 16'' or 24'' just staple it up and ur done..

Don't cut the insulation board and put it right over the joists instead of in between. The joists are the board you can see on the ceiling that support the floor overhead.

The insulation board comes in 4x8' sheets like sheet rock but you can cut it with a knife and use roofing nails to hold it up.

Shouldn't you be coating the entire ceiling and walls with mylar or some other reflectives anyways? You're just wasting light not covering the ceiling.

So I should put it up on the entire ceiling? I was thinking to do just the areas from paneling to ceiling and leaving the ceiling as is?
@Exdex: I will be putting mylar up on the side walls not the ceiling.

Also you can go to Lowes or Home depot and get this stuff called a solar barrier. It's like bubble wrap with a reflective side to it. It comes in 25 and 50 foot rolls that are 4 feet wide. Easy to install by your self with a staple gun. Just attach it to to the rafters in the cieling of your basement room to the exposed rafters. It has reflective properties and will create a dead air space for insulation purposes....jmo
