Too bad I put the CXB3070's onto the heat sink I had... May have to order another four and do one of your 8 cob monsters...

Hmm does that mean the date got pushed back? Was supposed to be end of March. On the lookout for that pattern, wonder if they are bumping into the same trouble as Digikey when trying to order.

I got mine from mouser, and for awhile they were saying 4/10, but they got them sooner than thought after the original delay.

They have over 40 in stock but their prices are high if you're not getting price breaks with them.

Hey guys, I have been looking into these COBs off and on for awhile now. Later this month I plan on replacing a couple of my 1k HPS with them. I just want to lower my heat, and electric bill. The room is 5.5 ft wide so a normal reflector is hard to cover that well, the last foot or so doesn't get covered very well. I am wanting to elminate that by building 2 fixtures per light I replace.

I haven't made up my mind on anything yet, except for I will probably be using CXB3070's and hopefully AD bin. I want to be as efficient as possible for the money, but there is a breaking point there. I figure I will run them at 1.05 and get the 36.5 watts out of them. I am guessing around 600 watts of LED will replace a 1k? That is just me doing an educated guess but someone else please chime in and tell me if I am on the right path.

If I am right then that means for every 1k I take down I would want to have 16 of the CXB3070 AD running at 1.05 for a total of 584 watts. And I want to split those in two, so that means 8 cobs per board. One on each end of the room.

My questions for you guys are, does this sound good and reasonable? And if so where is the best place to order the CXB3070s from? I want AD bin if possible and plan on ordering at least 30 of them, maybe even more depending on how much I replace this first go around.

Next question, what driver should I use? I want one that is as efficient as possible. And likely at 1.05

What heatsink? Any ideas for this application?

And is there anything I am overlooking, like will I need lenses, reflector, anything like that? I plan on spreading these COBs out as much as possible. So that way I have a good even light coverage over my area. Each board I build of 8 CXB3070's will cover roughly 3 ft x 2.75 ft.

Sorry to bother you guys, I just wanted to make sure I am on the right track and knew some of you could probably help me out. I plan on researching a lot more for myself. But anything to get me looking in the right directions is appreciated. And maybe I am wrong about how many COB's I need. Maybe it will take more then 600 watts of LED to replace 1000 HPS yield wise?

Thanks, I will shoot him an e-mail. Pricing looks good on the CXB3070 AD, around $36ish.

After a little more thought I think I may go with 18 COBS to replace a 1k instead of 16. That gives me 657 watts instead of 584. And 109700 lumens vs 97500. It still worries me that the 1k HPS has 140k lumens or more. But if I remember right I read Supra say some of it was lost due to the reflector.

I saw that lol I commented on them and was telling jerry I knew wheere his poc was from lol So heres the shit news I did wat measurements on the meanwell drivers I got and they arent good. One output 127w max, the other 167 max with potentiometer all the way up. I am bout to sub in my 3rd one sto see if maybe I can get a more even distribution. But like wtf! thats quite the diff in wattage.

@SupraSPL no man digi pushed like months out lol, Kingbright can order and have the shipment in like a weeks time now. SO 7 days max. they just got a order in yesterday. And I thought they still had some..... Either way I got 4 of my 6 w free shipping FROM KINGBRIGHT, they said that since it was delayed they would cover reship. It was only delayed 2 days lol so now my other order is otw. I am a happy customer! also that measurment of heat I gave u yesterday was the thing rrunning at 83 watts. so it was a little higher then projected wattage.

What colors are they? Because I noticed the 5000k pulled more wattage than the 3000k

3000k i editied to say up ,the potentiometer all the way up, my meanwell 120h-1050a Should only run 148plus or minus percent lol . but I gave heat measurements of like 100-130 yesterday of the heatsink and iut was a little hotter then expected, the measurement sI was taking were running 10% more wattage then I was anticipating. I think is the driver that determines the wattage, not the led, right? why would one color pull more watts? mine are 300.

Idk but my killawatt meter says 433 watts for the 5000k and 413 watts for the 3500k and 3000k

You ain't seen nothing yet just wait until I get my death sentences( HLG-185H-C500A drivers ) I'm gonna do a 10 cob light lol. I just hope I don't shock myself to death lol

WELL the news is discouraging. I just re ran the test, using the 3rd same model driver and it seems that it is the cobs. same wattage pull 127 at start 130 after. Which lewads me to really be concerned about the supplier stated above. I recall being told they only had 3 cxb3590 then they had an extra suddenly, When they shipped my order. I paid 14 days before and they said they had 3 and were waiting on the order, then I told them the paypal 14 day refund was comin up before they got thier new shipment. Then suddely they had a 4th and shipped. idk how but I do find it odd that one side pulls different. IT would take another hour or so of work plus thermal grease to rearrange and test em to isolate the one that is throwing it off so substantially. I bet I know which one tho.
