I guess none of the "experts" on amber trichomes are going to answer, so I'll tell you what I found out from Googling "when to harvest CBD strains."

1. A couple sources said to harvest EARLIER than you would if you were trying to get maximum THC.

2. One source said that you should harvest before the buds get sticky, because sticky flowers have more THC.

3. One source said if you wait until the hairs in the flowers are 90 percent red, brown or wilted, you will get more CBN (not CBD) and CBN is more "relaxing" than THC.

4. A couple sources said if you wait until AFTER the peak THC content is indicated by the amber trichs you will get more CBD due to the THC "deteriorating."

So I guess it's safe to say that the "rules" for a high CBD strain are NOT the same as the guidelines for cranking out the THC, but beyond that, as usual, the "experts" prefer not to say anything when you are asking for advice ahead of time. Instead, they wait for you to go ahead and try to "reinvent the wheel," and then if your experiment fails, then and only then will the "experts" offer an opinion, telling you that whatever you did was obviously dumb and doomed to failure and you're an idiot noob wannabe. In other words, they'll never advise or warn you ahead of time. They want you to make a mistake so they can be snotty about it and feel superior.
