Case fan and controller confusion!!! Please Help...

Also I dont see anything as far as resetting. I see one pinhole but I dont think there is anything special about it

well... could I try my luck with a smaller volt power supply? I have a 10V.
You could try it, but you would still have to use the 12v+ and Gnd, don't use the 5v+ ....
and disregard what I said about using it unless you have a 5v or less source.
I keep drifting over from pc, where you can join up multiple rails to equal a certain Voltage, but you have just the stepper [power supply]

Ok so I attached both power supplies to yellow-red black-black and nothing. So i went back to red-red. The 10v does nothing but the 12v still turns the controller on.
Is it possible that the yellow on the controller is ran as if it was a 3-pin?

Bypass the molex altogether and see if that helps.
Basically what I can see is this: 3wires from Controller: the Red and Black are your power and the yellow is still your rpm?, but a schematic for that should be included.....
Even though it is a 4 pin connector, you should still have only 2 wires going to it from the power supply right? So you can either hook up the red wire or the yellow wire to feed power, not both at the same time. [Yellow is preferable, since it's gauge is probably rated for 12v's]
The 4 pin is really for a computer connection and that is why it has two Separate rails for + power. You are just working with one leg 12V+.

I attached the controller to the power supply and it seems to be running smooth now. Now to test it with the fans attached.
Thanks a million for the help.
Sadly it is still smoking. So I think I will be going back to the store tomorrow and get something with smaller volts

HAPPY DAYS!!!! I searched around and found a 5v in the house. After 10 mins of running everything is as it should be. Im happy I got this worked out and Abiqua you were right after all.
I learned 2 things today. The color of the pin means a lot. And that my controller is powered by only 5v.
