Caregiver application question

I've heard somewhere that the State is considering a "collective" to be 3 or more people collaborating. There are loopholes that allow husband and wife to share grow space and for a caregiver to have an assistant so this seems like a pragmatic approach.
I am aware of the husband/wife clause, but where does it say that a caregiver can have an assistant or employee?

In the application there is a spot to list one employee. You have to pay another $31 for background check. They are allowed to assist you with cultivation

Social clubs need to make a comeback. :P
You and I have to talk Buddy. Seriously. I have been thinking the very same thing, such as when they had all of the "Social Clubs" (for other purposes) in Lewiston. Why could not something like that work? Just thinking outside the box here.

Yes when I applied for my caregivers cards I applied to have a employee. Paid the 31 bucks and all. They called and told me it wasn't gonna go into effect till Jan. Now I'm just waiting to see if I actually get it or not.

I called yesterday to the State (Maine), and received a call back around 11. I cannot remember who the girl was, but she was so very pleasant, and a welcome change as far as attitude from my last experience with them. Not that I call every day, but I had a few questions. I am going the route of having my wife as my caregiver, and I the patient. In this way, if worse came my way, she can (until my 1st crop is ready) travel to South Portland and get my meds from my current caregiver, as well as transport MMJ that I would have with me if admitted to the hospital etc. It will cost me a total of $31 to do this, but in the end, we will both have the plastic cards (my choice over the paper type), and everything will be kewl here as far as I am concerned for the time being. She went over it with me, and even asked if I needed anything else.

Great Experience with John's office.

Bob, check out section 2423-A of the new law. Specifically, section 3 about the cultivation of marijuana. Subsection C talks about people who can be primary caregivers without registering at all. It is given in the context of cultivation, but I wonder if primary caregiver status would extend to the transportation, etc. as well.

It would, and you are correct. The only reason why I would (register with the state) is that I feel the card id worth my time, money and effort to have ... just in case she gets stopped somewhere by law enforcement. If I wanted to just go with the paper type, the state would not even receive any info. I would just have the paper type.

My wife sometimes transports mine to camp during the summer, so I don't have to on my bike. I always just send my laminated scrip along with it.
Now you know I'm a kind hearted person, Bob. But mess with my wife and try to charge her for my weed and it would be a totally different story !!

Just sayin,

lol.. some day when we all get together i'll tell yo a story about comming home from chemo with my mother and a state trooper stopping us, because he saw her smoking.. funny now, but i almost went to jail for a long time... I am a pretty chill dude, and i can and will take a lot of abuse, but if you fuck with my family, I'm gonna hurt you, and I'm going to hurt you enough to think twice about your mistake..

like i said funny now, ended up with a bunch of cops on the road...

Just to chime in on the point below, CCM can provide caregivers with qualified patients as a way to get started, build a full roster of patients or replace patients that may leave for whatever reason over time. Depending on where you are located in the state the length of time that it can take varies, but usually we can find someone within the first week or so once we have invited a caregiver to join the org. We have patients that call us every day looking for a good caregiver, which as it turns out is harder to find than most people realize.

If you want any more info feel free to visit our site or give us a call at (866) 327-4559.

What do you mean about address? Like if you move, or move grow facility to another address you just let DHHS know. But yes, you can just update the application for whatever changes occur. The laws on edibles & tinctures have changed so I just looked them up on the Maine Legislature site http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/bills_125th/billtexts/HP095101.asp it says right at the top about food establishments that a caregiver would be considered a food establishment& would need a license, but can provide the edibles to "family or household members of the caregiver"
Personally all I know about CCM is from their forums, and it really doesn't seem beneficial to pay all that money for them to "provide" you with patients, that they don't seem to be able to provide as much as they claim. But like I tell anyone, don't trust my word, check out their forums, call & talk with them & make your own decision. Here's links to the 3 organizations I know of

CCM

Maine Green Cross

MMCM

Hope this helps

My personal experience with CCM is the they are difficult to get ahold of and are less than responsive when you do get in touch withe them. I haven't spoken with them for almost a year, so maybe things have changed but it took a number of calls to actually get a living person on the other end and when i have spoken with them i found the person i was speaking with to be somewhat evasive both on the phone and when i spoke to him in person.

Like i said, my contact with them was almost a year ago and maybe things have changed.

just got some news from the state... Not too sure what to make of it as I thought the law on having an employee was pretty clear. This was sent to my employee, arrived today, stapled to the letter was his check for the $31. I received no word from the state as to the progress of my application for primary caregiver.

January 10, 2012

Your check is being returned to you because it contains $31.00 for an employee registration card.
We have been informed by the Attorney General's Office that we can not register employees at this
time. Please resubmit a check to cover other reqistration charges.

Any Ideas???
To all the guys I said the employee is allowed, this reads to me as that might have changed.

Sounds to me like it changed overnight. One minute it is this, and now this? I am sure another member more knowledgeable then I will answer this for you Bud. But I too would be perplexed as hell, just as you are ...

that is an interesting situation.. I don't know what to say, have you called Thiele? not that, that dink is much help. he has been showing his dis-favor for the program over the last few weeks..

Things are pretty screwed up at DHHS right now. And, imo, he hasn't done that great a job in the program. In his defense however I don't think he has been provided the resources to really succeed. Now that patients don't have to register and there isn't that income I don't see that situation improving.
