Carbonless air purification for smell

I was wondering if anyone has tried any other methods for eliminating the smell other than using carbon filters.
Such as needlepoint ionization, RF pulse ionization, or using an ionic pro.
I have heard using some ionizers can cause pants to burn but have never had this happen.
Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with this type of technology.

ALOT of Ionizers or Ozone generators claim to scrub or clean the air, but in reality only mask *your* ability to smell other odors. O3 (Ozone) is not healthy in high levels for plants or people.

Ozone in the lower atmosphere is an air pollutant with harmful effects on the respiratory systems of animals and will burn sensitive plants; however, the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere is beneficial, preventing potentially damaging ultraviolet light from reaching the Earth's surface.

am ozone generator is an ionizer just so you know NoDrama.
No its not.

Air ionizers rely on the properties of particles. An ion is just a particle that is charged, either negatively or positively. A Ionizer device, a tabletop or stand alone unit, creates negative ions using electricity. The ions flood the room and seek out positively charged particles, such as dust, bacteria, pollen, smoke, and many other allergens. Once bonded (remember, opposites attract), the particles are too heavy to float around where they can easily be inhaled. As a result, the harmful airborne particles become larger pieces of dirt on the ground where they can be cleaned by normal means.

Ozone Generators do not charge or ionize air particles. Ozone Generators produce Ozone. What is ozone? Ozone is a molecule composed of three atoms of oxygen. Two atoms of oxygen form the basic oxygen molecule--the oxygen we breathe that is essential to life. The third oxygen atom can detach from the ozone molecule, and re-attach to molecules of other substances, thereby altering their chemical composition.

So you see one cleans pollutants by charging the particles while the other chemically alters pollutants by attaching an oxygen atom to it. You definitely can tell when an ozone generator is in use, you can smell the disinfected air, kind of like fresh bed sheets out of the dryer. An ozone generator is MUCH more effective at getting rid of odors because oxygen has a disinfecting ability, but the pollutants are still in the air, that is why I would not recommend a generator to someone who has allergies. An ionizer cleans the air of pollutants much more effectively.

Now you know the difference.

so that must mean that for an ozone generator to generate ozone it must ionize o2 molecules? wouldn't that make an ozone generator an ionizer?

Yep, but it still isn't an Ionizer. You can make an ionizer with 2 differently charged plates, but you need UV light or a corona discharge to make Ozone. They aren't the same thing, so to call both an ionizer is incorrect. An ionizer will not do much to reduce odor, but a Ozone Generator will do quite a bit to help eliminate odors.

Do you understand the Difference? Or do you still think they are the same thing?

so there is a way to specifically ionize only the oxygen molecules in the atmosphere and none else? where a plain ionizer just ionizes everything?

Ona gel works wonders. At the end of my outtake i take a scoop in my hand and spred it out around the inside of the ducting. Between the riddges.
The 10 outtake incline is on top of a can fan. Im going to get an ozone tho. Just for my attic :) That way the air can be treated before it seeps out out of a vent that is coverd in ONA.
I run my intake 24/7 so no odor will leak out. I run a passive intake vent. I think its better to have no intake because when your outtake shuts off you dont want your room to leaks oder out. Just have a piece of ducting a little bigger that your outtake ducting for a "passive intake"
Another tip is... Put calking in your window crack so nothing can leak out through the poly or fake wall. Here is another invention i have discoverd. Put pexy glass over the inside of your windows. So if they broke the window and removed the stick that is pressured holding your window shut. They wont be able to get in because of the pexy glass.... Just make sure you bolt it to the wall good. I drill 2x4 over the pexy glass from corner to corner so it bolts better to the wall.... Its ingenious. Better than bars because it is seeeeee through!
