had a thought a minute ago and think it might be a smart one for a change

has or does anyone used a car HID kit???

was thinking that this would be awesome for a micro grow!!! and they are 35w each and come in a 4300k which would be ok for flowering

and from another website i read that 35w HID's kick out 3200-5000 lumens depending on spectrum!!!!!!

Hey tamjam
I'm a bit of a car buff as you spotted. I had the same thought as you about these 12v HID's but it isn't really an option.
The bulbs are pretty expensive to start with and they need an expensive ballast to run, but being on 12v they also need a 5amp power supply for each 60w bulb. My 5 amp power supply was over £40 and you would need 2 if you wanted to run 2 bulbs which makes it a very expensive option.
I think bulbs under 3500k are actually halogen bulbs which makes them run very hot.

You'll need a 12v supply. Could you use a 12v wall charger? The wires would have to be a large guage I would think. And with hids for cars you can get whatever color you want. I've seen the 3k and yes there very yellow.
