My first grow.... hydro with fox farm trio nutes. 400w mh and hps bulb with ballast adjusted to 50%. Ph is good, have followed the nutes caledar to the letter.... I am in week 10 of flowering and the colas and buds are shiny but hairs are not all orange and the white pistils are still straight for the most part. Thia is a straight sativa strain, unknown genetics or strain, it was a bonus seed pack. Have done reasonably well imo since it's my first grow but I am a bit frustrated with waiting or not doung what needs to be done to get the volume out of the buds and maturity.

Some sativas take a long long long time lol. Is it a heat issue that keeps the light at 50%? If not turn that puppy up! 10 weeks for a pure sativa is not long.

most weight is added on during the last couple weeks of flowering so just be patient

Sativa strains take longer and can produce less yields comparably. If the pistils are all still white that means that you're still in flowering and the buds are still growing. Keep feeding them your flowering cycle nutes. Sativa's also can be harder to grow and very picky so be careful. Use HPS for flowering. Put your hand on top of the plants and if the light burns your hand move the lights up a little. If there isn't enough Co2 in the room it will affect your yield as well, among other things (phenotype). Wait till all or most of the pistils have died (turned orange/brown) and buy a bud microscope if you want to check your trichomes for cloudy/amber(if that's your preference).

Better to check trichomes IMO. Yes HPS and be patient. I go through the same thing every grow and wonder if somethings wrong, then they pop and bulk up. What I have noticed is the verticle growth slowes to almost nothing in the 30-35th day (with my indica strain) and then the buds start to pack on the wieght. If possible could you move ballast to remote location? More air over the canopy may help as well. I just mounted a small fan on the ceiling to help as I have run out of room height wise....I guess not the biggest problem a grower could face lol.
