I used jiffy pellets and they worked great for my first round of seeds. Years later I ordered another batch of seeds, got a new box of pellets, and everyone died shortly after germ. It took me a whole other batch to figure out that the pellets, apparently, had something wrong with them. As soon as I switched to rockwool I got regular results again, and since I have germed in several other mediums. I don't know what could have been wrong with that box of pellets, but they sure seemed to be the problem.

I stopped using expensive seeds and got some midi seeds from a friend. I used those until I figured out what was wrong.

Is your setup sitting on the floor? How warm is it @ jiffy pot/ soil height? What's the ph of the water you're using?

a good place to obtain seed is through castle seed ,and I say this because, even with non fem seeds, ive never gotten a male , and have bought over 50 seeds, all different strains, just to cross with a pure monkey paw that ive had for 26 years now

my greatest germ rates occur when I follow this procedure:

1- Soak the seed in a glass of lukewarm water. In 6-12 hours it should sink
2- Put seed into papertowel after it has sunk to the bottom of glass
3- The next day plant into pre moistened soil @ 1/4 to 1/2 an inch depth BEFORE you see a taproot
4- within 2-5 days the sprout is coming out of the soil, and your baby is officially alive!

I think them damn jiffy pellets are Pete moss, If so and you add reg water say pH 7 then the pH could go as low as 4......not good, for MJ seeds.

I have a pack in the garage, will have to check the run off later.

The jiffy pellets are peat, peat drops water pH, this is why the Amazon river has a low pH.
place some jiffy pellets in a cup of water for 10 min...then check ur run off. poor little lady's just cant take it.:-|

If the seeds pop then the seeds arent the problem. someone mentioned you might have put the seed in too deep, been known to happen.
I agree that light warrior makes a great seed starting mix. get it evenly wet first by watering thoroughly before planting to avoid losing the seed when you water.

There are seeds that are better grown in soil, some respond better in hydro. Since there are so many seed strains available I will refer you to the breeders reccomendations.
Usually seeds have kind of a bio that reads like a cannabis e-harmony add combined with a mail order bride add. It will be enticing you with all of its features but there is some money involved for shipping...
Just read and order your seed.
...yeah that just happened: I did just ryme read and seed in the same sentence...BLAMO!

place seeds in pill bottle with DW and two drops of kelp extract. when seeds sink in a day or so, plant 1/2-1/3" deep in peat. keep damp.
