Can't get Bho to honeycomb

Garbage in, garbage out. Use good material and you can make it do anything. And low and slow is the way to go.

Broken up stuff is strawberry cough I made into kind of a sugar wax, the 40g honeycomb patty is darkstar OG. First and second attempt at making wax instead of shatter. I'll post some shatter pics too

You gotta know the strain well to get things to wax right. From my experience its easier to get things to wax up if i dont use dry ice and just use frozen material and gas at freezer temps. I also think making a failry well purged wax is very hard because once you change the consistency of the oil and it hardens the butane gets trapped.
When i try to make wax i purge it like shatter til reaction nearly done on one side usually 18 hours flip til no reaction maybe another 18h max. then fold it over while warm and just mess with it press it to the thickness i desire then depoending on how hard i want the wax ill have it between 40 and 55 60 c max. Usually the higher range of that parameter the harder. And pull vacuum. If you pull and release vacuum over it will wax up pretty fucking quick, but for honeycomb you want to only pull it once when you know it starting to look like it will harden soon.
When ive spoken to people who seemed to know about this they claimed that ''waxes'' or at least clean and well purged waxes you are basically changing the nucleation point of molecules and creating a more unstable material. Tbh older waxes ive seen made from people out here all start changing consistency around the sides, some will go drier with time, some go pasty... Has it ever happened you that you made a shatter sooooooooooooo terpy that it waxes up on you even at 28c with 0 agitation to the material? Thats the terpenes, aparently certain monoterpenes can act as a solvent. Only my oooold school nl5 x haze cut and og kush x cheese do that. thts the kinda wax i like all others ive fucked with them but i would only do them again if asked for otherwise shatter all day.

Hello to everyone. I'm having same problem can't get it to comb. I purged it for a bit, folded it over and have it purging again at around 100f and hoping it combs. How long should I leave it and should I open chamber and fold it again or let it be at 100f for 24hrs? How long should it take to get crumble texture? Banging head against the wall. Any help is greatly appreciated

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are purging on parchment paper or an oil slick pad inside vac. chamber. Try this. Release vacuum. Remove parchment paper with concentrate on it. Let ot cool to rm. temp. You want to ball the concentrate up in the center. Technique: Grab any corner of paper and fold toward center letting oil stick to itself, and quickly in one motion, pull corner away leaving oil in center. Do this from all sides until you have your concentrate in a nice ball in the center of your parchment paper. Place back in center of vac. chamber. Now, at room temp. start vac pump. It should start to expand (depending on how much butane you already purged) into a "muffin". Looks light and almost foam like. If you can reach full vac without "muffin" touching sides of chamber keep a full -29in. Hg. If gets too big release vac. a bit and repeat until you have a full vac. (-29.5 in. Hg) Now hopefully you have some kind of double boiler set-up, with heat element. (I assume you do) You said you were running around 100 F. Thats cool bcuz the terps. should be intact. Raise heat to 120 degrees F. Oil surface temp. Not element temp. Not water temp. The temp of the actual concentrate itself. For this I use an infrared thermometer. Cheap online if you don't have one. If that's what you were already doing cool. If not buy one! Now, for this batch, use whatever analog thermometer you may have. Should start waxing up after an hour or two. If it flattens back out b4 it waxes up, repeat the balling up back into the center process. Try not to let go past 125 F. Just for terpenes sake. It is done when it no longer reacts, and is of your desired consistency. Good luck brother. Hope I can help. Let me know how it turned out....peace!
