Can't extend drying past 7 days.

Dry in a smaller area. More bud to air ratio. Pack a tent. This in most cases will eliminate the need for a humidifier as well, another plus.

Run less fans. One tiny guy moving air at the bottom of the tent on low is sufficient. Air should not be blowing on the flower. Just enough to not be stagnant.
Imo the fan is likely exposing the uneven nature of the environment in that the air is not well circulated and you may only be humdiifying a small area as opposed to the whole area. You make sure your humidity sensor is

I feel like it has to be some issue with airflow. My first thought would be too much obviously, but dbz has me thinking not good enough is possible too. My main concern was always the air blowing form the AC was too strong. The model is definitely overkill for the room size. Now I'm thinking if my sensors are too close to the plants, maybe the room isn't as humid as I think.

I'm starting to wonder if drying in my flower tent might get me better results even if the average temp would be around 70. I will definitely keep these things in mind come next harvest and keep tying to dial it in.

Throw some money at the problem haha,
16c/62rh with minimal airflow and a tent that you can just squeeze the plants into to hang and you can go 21 days in my experience. Excess air volume and air movement speeds up the process, when I dry in a tent I dry ~40 oz in a 1.2x1.2m tent, but I grew it in a 1.2x2.4m tent

hope this helps

I will probably pick up a 2nd tent this round, figure I can buy cheap if its just for drying. I have the same size tent so good to know I only need half that to dry. I was thinking I might need slightly bigger.

I usually hang plants whole and just alternate the height that I hang them so for example if you had 8 plants, hang 4 from the top and hang 4 on a longer string or tie so you make better use of the space, I have a dehumidifier with an oscillating fan blowing the water around but never pointed at a plant. Hope this helps

When it comes to drying, what's the verdict on running passive intake and exhaust fans? Previously, I've hang dried in a 4' x 4' x 8' tent and run a 6" inch exhaust fan atop the tent at 33% power. Problem is I haven't had success at jarring and slow curing because they dry too fast and I put them in jars too late.

I can get my RH to 60% with a humidifier but can't get the temps much below 69 degrees (nice) in the lung room so I'm sure that has something to do with the shorter dry time. I'll post some pics of the grow later which should be chopped down next week or so. All advice appreciated!

Shrink your dry space. If you grow in that 4x8 and fill it out, dry in something like a 3x3. Pack that bitch, but don't let buds touch eachother or the walls. Keep the passive vents open. Ditch the humidifier. Use like a 4" fan at the bottom of the tent on low, not pointing at buds, just to keep some sort of light circulation. Run the exhaust as necessary, not constant. 5 second burst once or twice a day will suffice. Temps could be better than 69f. Typically the lower the better to an extent. However if you do these things 69f will work just fine. Goodluck!

Thanks for the tips! I'm actually growing/drying in a 4' x 4' with an 8' ceiling but I get what you mean about the less air space the better. I'm going to try with less exhaust air movement this time around.

If the buds feel dry that quick, do the stems still bend from having moisture? If they do put them in a tote without bucking the buds off the stems. That way the moisture will move back to the buds for a slower dry

Try 65%rh and 70-73 temp drying. Works perfect for me. Get 10-14 days.
Also imo long as u go over 5 days and trim and jar at rt dryness then it will be smooth smoke. When I jar it at 56-58%(rh in jar) its perfect no need for weeks of burping. If it goes up slightly like 2% cool then a few burps. If it drops 2% add 62% moisture packs(boveda). In the low 50's is to late and u get the crumble to dust.
Timing when to pull the dry is the most important imo. I think going slow burping from 65% is the safe practice for finding sweet spot for most but once u get the feel/texture/consistency of the bud in the range of how u want it is key.
When I jar it at that rh I got my smell from day one not waiting for it to return. Smell intensifies thru the cure.

Well its that time again! I wanted to post an update and thank everyone for the replies. I picked up the cheapest 5x5 tent I could find and things seem to be going much slower this time. I'm only on day 6 so far, but can tell they have at least a couple days left. I will update again when everything is finished.

I know I'm replying to you almost a year later, but I'm quoting this because it seems to be at least one of the problems I was having.

Even my biggest top colas would get crispy, to the point of crumbling if let them go too long, but the stems would still have some significant bend to them. Putting the entire plant inside the largest tote I could find really balanced things out. Those buds went from crispy to fluffy just like they would in a jar. Tossing in a hygrometer also gave me an idea of what RH% they would be at if I did move them to jars. Usually 65%+ when I would of sworn they were done.

I never did post my update. I had some mixed results the last few harvests along with just some bad genetics that left me disappointed. I have at least managed to extend all my drys since posting this past 7 days and I feel like I'm improving each harvest. Currently sitting here on day 9 and while I have jarred some, I feel no rush to finish up. I will probably go back tomorrow and see where I'm at, and maybe see if I can really push at least part of this for the full 14 days.

I appreciate all the advice from you guys and hope this helps others in the future. I will post some seed/strain reviews in the next couple of weeks if anyone wants to see the finished product.

I'm a couple weeks out from chop. I've never been good at drying, but this time I'm going to do my best not to get bud rot. But maybe I had the bud rot before drying. Good luck with your dry, I will try to learn some tips.
