so i have read, and googled. i just cant come to a definitive decision.
so i know i need to do some serious work on my area, and i'm about to add 4 more 150 watt replacement cfl's., but my plants are getting sick. so...at this point there is no ventilation, but i am about to add a fan. they are bag seed for a trial run with this aero, and have been under 24 hour light for 3 weeks. i probably shouldn't have, but they got a full nute tab in the water when i put the seeds down to sprout, they seem to have liked it, i have been able to top one of them.when the other 2 sprouted, the taproot floundered for a day or 2 before it took hold, so they are really like a few days behind, but they have been progressing well. until now. see the spots? i have to say i haven't changed the solution till today. i thought that would cure whatever ailed it. would yall agree? started out with un-aged tap water, went back with distilled. and changed to miracle grow vegetable food. and i added some super thrive for good measure (might not help, but from i have read, it cant hurt, its just vitamins/hormones and the like. so anyway, i just changed everything today, so maybe my problems will clear themselves up. but im kinda curious, what do yall think it is? also its only about 73f in there so its not temp. and dont trip on my setup, this is really only an after thought to a nice hydro grow i have going with a partner. if this works well, i think im gonna use an aero for breeding. so tell me what ya think....

I don't do hydro...but to me it almost looks like a nute lockout thing. Nute burn usually starts at the edges of the leaf. What's your ph for your water? Ppm? How often do you feed them?

well, all my meters and stuff are across town at my other grow i have going. i put a full nute tab in on day 1 and havent touched the water or added nutes since. 3 weeks 1 day. today i changed the water and went back with distilled and miracle grow veg food. i dont know what the ph was, but it should be fine now with new distilled water, right?
so do you think it was a ph prob?

I'm not an expert, and certainly not on hydro, but I think it's ok to nute hydro early. At least I've read that on here from at least one person.I do know for certain that your ph and tds are extremely important, most especially in hydro. In soil, a high ph can cause nute lockout, literally starving your plant. In soil we'd correct this with a teaspoon of epsom salts to a gallon of water, but I don't want to advise you to do that because hydro may be different. I did find this basic hydro maintenance guide in the growfaq. Are you doing this stuff?
What kind of maintenance is involved with a hydroponic system?

What kind of maintenance is involved with a hydroponic system?
As with soil-based production, producing crops in hydroponic systems always requires maintenance. The following list may seem like a lot of work; however, as you become experienced most tasks and checks will only take a few minutes each day.
Daily

  • Check reservoir for water levels, pH and TDS fluctuations.
  • Check grow room temperatures and humidity percentages.
  • If you use CO2, the CO2 system should be checked to ensure that it is working correctly.
  • Check watering system. If a pump fails it should be replaced immediately. If drippers are blocked they should be cleaned or replaced immediately.
  • Check plants for disease and insect infestations. It is always best to stop disease and insect outbreaks early. The longer an infestation is left the more difficult it will be to cure, yield losses will be high and crop failures are possible.
  • Check plants for leaf discoloration and deformities that may be caused by such problems as nutrient deficiencies or nutrient burn (over feeding), as well as leaf curl from lights being to close.
  • Crop hygiene is extremely important. Cut off and discard diseased leaves. If a plant is badly diseased, it is always better to throw out one or two plants to control disease outbreaks than it is to destroy a complete crop. The same applies to insect infestations, especially spider mites.
  • General maintenance - failed light bulbs, light movers, fans, loose ducting, leaks etc. should be replaced or repaired.
Weekly

  • The growing medium should be flushed once a week to stop nutrient lock up.
  • Complete reservoir change should done weekly to prevent nutrient imbalances and bacteria build-up.
  • Foliar spraying for disease and insect pests should be done weekly to prevent outbreaks.
End of each crop

  • The hydroponics system should be completely sanitized at the end of each crop. This will minimize disease carry over to the next crop.
  • The grow room should be sanitized with insecticides and fungicides. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment should be wiped down to remove insects/eggs and fungi spores. The cleaner the grower is in his growing room the fewer problems he will have in the following crop.

IN either case, soil or hydro, I think this advice holds true."when in doubt, flush." then it's a waiting game to see if it helped.

you should never use miracle groin a hydro setup...only use dro ferts or organic...im supprized they are still alive

wow, i dont understand why people keep saying that. i have read through the forums, and people say that, but everyone who says, yeah im using it, seems to have success with it.

It probably has something to do with the way it dissolves...hydro ferts are meant to dissolve better;they're formulated for hydro. Also, it's pretty easy to overdo miracle grow, you should never start out full strength with it.
