Canopy level temp Q

How do you guys check / watch the temp of the canopy level?
I need some ideas

A thermometer... they sell em at any hydro shop... they have a sensor at the end of a cord that u can hang at canopy level...

lol.. Here is my makeshift rig.. It consists of my Thermometer Duct taped to the top of a 4L Milk jug, placed between two plants, resting on the edge of their pots. works for me.. Don't laugh at my high temps either, its usually around 78, but I was working in there and it got a bit warm..

lol southsac .......dude really your asking what to measure temperature with?? im going to assume you wanted an exact product and so ill advise you to see any local radioshack for exactly what southsac explained a thermometer/hygrometer with a unit reading and a probe which gives a reading as well...hang the thermometer up high on the wall and bring the probe over to chain or whatever holds your light up and get it hanging either a bit higher than canopy or at canopy whatever you like...also note a fan blowing can skew the readings so if you see it jumping around its not broken. bbb i dont like to see even 78, you see 78 you know you will hit 82 at some point and i get paranoid in the 80s, if your comfortable at that temp cool but i like to stay around 74 if i can..nice looking buds though for sure

but that won't give you canopy temps and also radiant heat from the light source will make the reading a bit inaccurate

^ not to mention the floor is the coldest spot in a room

the back is magnetic, hang a string/wire/fishing line from the ceiling with a washer tied to the end, and stick it to it. Build a scrog net, and set it on top of the rig.

good price...I linked a small handheld one that I use in a previous post here

Hold any thermo at canopy level for a few minutes, or secure a micro or regular size digital thermo near the canopy or at the same distance between canopy and light(thermo and light). You can rig something up. I secure mine to bamboo stick in flower which is almost always at canopy level, in veg I just hold a thermo at canopy every once in a awhile as higher heat is more acceptable in veg than flower. One can also over time get a sense of what the canopy temp is by knowing the room temp itself.

If the sensor is in direct light, the temp will be higher

i wouldn't recomend this method!!!! go to amazon or a grow store spend ten on a thermometer and hygrometer combo. make sure its one that keeps track of your lows and high's seriously i got one for 6 dollars off amazon. if you sped 50 walmart has a wireless weather station that keeps track of humidity and temps. put the wireless sensor in the tent and now you don't even have to open it to check on stuff. this weather station gives you a line graph aslo for your humidity and temps change over time! the laser thermometer is only going to give you the temps at that exact moment and you spent way to much money . good luck with that method

both will work fine if your room is so out of whack you need a graph and constant temp checks then whatever lol....i personally agree to go with the combo meter with a probe instead of the laser for a different reason though, just because you can set it up and leave it and glance at it when you want plus you get a reading of the canopy level and the top (hottest) part of the room

I respectfully disagree as the temps probe will be off somewhat due to the radiant energy of the light source...this does not occur with the infrared...the laser is only a pointer....its an infrared sensor that measures the temp
