i completely understand how to do the whole thing, the only problem im having after doing all this research is how long am i supposed to let the butter "cook" i need a definative answer for optimal results. case ive read that too long and you'll over do it and it'll be worthess and too short will be the same result. so i was just wandering any input is appreciated...

It's not so much of how long as it is how hot. Too hot and you waste the bud but too low and you lose some effectiveness. A low simmer for about an hour should be fine - watch for burning but understand the bud will darken and get a little 'crispy' but it shouldn't burn. No more than 1/8th per stick - it's really easy to over do it when you're eating it. I put straight up ground bud into cookies that cook for 15 min on 350 and I've never had a bad batch. So if you apply that logic your butter should be easy. Have fun.

Dude, I make the cannabutter, my girl does the baking, and the clubs in the Bay Area wont sell our shit 'cause our content is too high! I take 1 oz, add 2 1/2 sticks of butter, 1/4 cup of water and put it in my crock pot on the lowest temp (not warm, but cooking), for 8 hours. Stir occasionally, unless you do it at night while you're sleeping, and strain after 8. I think that other people let it cool first, but I love the feel of my flesh melting! Make sure you get every last drop out!
